A Blight on Bonesborough is an Owl House Role Swap AU By GeminiAlchemist (who also wrote On Earth and Boiling Isles). The fic depicts what would happen if Amity was the human apprentice of Eda and Luz is the witch.Tired of living up to her family name, Amity ends up chasing Owlbert through the portal to the demon realm and meets Eda. After one adventure, Amity seizes the opportunity to run away from home and start a new and (kinda) normal life in the Boiling Isles as a witch. In addition, the story occassionally chronicles the misadventures of Vee the Basilisk on Earth. Each chapter adapts an episode of the show, with some events reordered, combined or skipped over completely with the plots of those episodes being altered in some way. The twins did steal Amity's diary, photocopied its pages and put them up all over school as a prank. Their nearly outing her is why she resented them. Luz decides not to study in all the tracks because she doesn't feel ready to narrow down her options to multi-track in just two tracks (and it requires good grades). Gus is voted out as president of the Human Appreciation Society. Mattholomule doesn't claim the position; instead, it goes to Eileen. Willow is chosen to fight Grometheus the Fear Bringer and doesn't switch out with anyone, defeating it single-handedly. Meanwhile, Amity and Luz become a couple after Grom with the latter kissing the former first. Amity steals the abomination coven relic from the Emperor's castle, of which she uses the abominations within on her adventures as backup. The Bards Against the Throne use Willow and Gus' protest as a cover to destroy all the petrified statues at the conformatorium, sparking a rebellion against Emperor Belos' rule. With many people from different covens joining their ranks now, they're rebranded as the Coven's Against the Throne (CAT's) much earlier. Instead of destroying the portal like Luz did in canon, Amity drops the key in the human realm before closing the door so Emperor Belos can never get it, forcing him to try making his own. Eda accepts her curse and refuses to let Lilith split it between them, telling her it won't earn her forgiveness (which leaves her stuck in Owl Beast form). Eda then convinces her to split Luz's curse between them before telling her to go stay at their parent's home, which omits Lilith and Hooty's friendship. Between seasons, Jacob Hopkins captures Clara thinking she's a witch since Vee's under house arrest in Blight Manor, leading Masha, Tom and Sam to rescue her and Jacob, who goes to the police and admits to detaining Clara, loses his job and his weapons at the Gravesfield Historical Society. For the first few weeks during her first attempt to find whoever cursed her, Eda stayed with her parents and tried some of her mother's alternative cures hoping one would work and could be used on Luz. It caused her to resent Gwen more, but at least she accepted Dell's forgiveness for the Owl Beast attacking and injuring him 8 years before she did in the show because it allowed them to be part of Luz's life after Eda brings King home. The events of "Hunting Palismen" occur before "Through the Looking Glass Ruins". Luz and Willow join Gus as he journeys to the Looking Glass Ruins with Mattholomule, Bria, Gavin and Angmar. Their encouragement towards the latter two causes them to backstab Bria only to be defeated by the girls. After unlocking her harpy mode, Eda stays in it so she can have a body again and the Owl Beast within her can see the world rather than being trapped in her. Following their actions at the petrification ceremony, Raine went underground to lead the BAT's, causing Scooter Crane's retirement to be delayed so he remains the head of the Bard Coven. After King gains his sound power, Eda decides to enroll him as a student in Hexside. With the portal key in the human realm, Hunter has no reason to betray the witch who offers him a hand in friendship, deciding to stay at the Owl House for a while. A few days after Eclipse Lake, Hunter backstabs everyone and claims both the intact portal and the key after Vee and her friends end up in the Boiling Isles, while leaving Vee stranded in the demon realm so he can capture her at a later time. Several Hexside students protest the Coven Day Parade, which doesn't have many people in attendance due to lack of interest in joining covens. Luz chooses to ignore Kikimora's panicky state but when she decides to help Kiki, her problems get solved by someone else, and Emperor Belos announces Raine as the new Bard Coven Head at the end of the parade, with Steve saying that Scooter Crane got killed so it could happen. Luz sits out talking to Philip Wittebane since she can't handle being around Lilith: instead, she carves her palisman with Eda and Dell at her grandparents' home while Amity and Vee go instead. And because of Vee realizing Philip smells like Belos' magic, Luz learns Belos is human sooner. The events of "Edge of the World" and Labyrinth Runners" occur at the same time as those of "Any Sport in a Storm". Hooty's prohibited from going to Titan Trapper Island for eating Tarak's letter to King, Eda and Camila going with Luz and King instead. Adrian helps Hunter infiltrate Hexside to find recruits for the covens, giving him and Flapjack concealment stones. After a week, he tries branding students by force when Hunter reveals his identity. Since Eda's told Luz, King and Hooty the story of how she met Raine several times over the years, they stop her from telling it again to Amity, so she tells them how she met Camila instead. Eda passed down her Grudgby jacket to Luz sometime ago in case she ever played the sport. Eda learns that Raine's faking their brainwashing and working with Darius and Eberwolf sooner, getting invited to help them invade Belos' mind with Darius' motives being that he learned Hunter's origins and wants the rebellion to get him out of the Emperor's grasp. Amity gets sent in with Hunter instead of Luz and records all of Belos' misdeeds on her scroll, which Hunter posts on Penstagram causing the entire Isles to learn Belos is a witch hunter. And with the walkie-talkie destroyed by Belos, King enters the In Between Realm to communicate with them before providing the Titan's Blood needed to activate the spell that rescues them. Afterward, Darius keeps Hunter from running away as he begins spiraling. Belos' image is destroyed because of video costing him most of his support, with Coven Heads Mason and Osran siding with the CAT's and Vee & Hunter providing their sides of the story to the public. Philip escapes to the Human Realm with the portal and the Collector isn't freed, so the Day of Unity fails, everyone loyal to the throne is taken into custody and Amity, Luz, Willow, Gus and Hunter aren't stranded in the human realm. Belos learns King's a Titan after hearing word of it from the Titan Trappers, and decides to take his blood to free the Collector in order to get a second chance at activating the Draining Spell. Lilith takes Eda's place as the Clawthorne impersonating Raine in order to make the Draining Spell fail, everyone hoping her curse will destroy all the coven sigils. | |

Amity ends up utilizing abomination magic, gets a job at Bonesborough Library and dyes her hair lavender. She also bonds with Ghost, who becomes her palisman. Gwendolyn only accepts Eda's curse after dealing with a family member she didn't know had it and promises to help find a proper cure with Lilith. Gus and Mattholomule end up becoming friends and scare Bria out of the Looking Glass Ruins. Eda and the Owl Beast make peace with each other, allowing Eda to gain a harpy transformation. Katya, Derwin and Amber are captured by Darius and Eberwolf and sent to the conformatorium, with Raine allowing themself to be captured by their fellow coven heads after fighting them so Eda can escape. King is adopted by Eda and thanks to Hooty (who still eats the letter from Tarak), he gains his sonic scream. Hunter still manages to claim the portal key and with it, the portal for Belos to use on the Day of Unity. Due to circumstances beyond their control, Camila decides to provide Vee shelter with her. Kikimora's life is still threatened and she attempts to escape to Palm Stings with Terra on her heels. Terra warns our human protagonist that the Emperor looks forward to seeing her soon, and Belos names Raine (now faking their brainwashing) as the new Bard Coven Head before revealing his face. Lilith still journeys into the past with her fellow human to meet Philip Wittebane, he learns the light glyph because of said human, backstabs them and is given swift payback but makes off with the Collector's mirror. Luz soon discovers that Philip is Belos before he became emperor. Luz still didn't receive a palisman at Hexside's adoption day while Willow and Gus do, implied to be because she hasn't decided on a long term life goal. As the above events occur, Luz is given a piece of palistrom wood and carves it into an egg, wanting it to choose its final form for themself. King gets his letter from Tarak and it's decided that Luz (plus Eda and Camila) will journey with him to Titan Trapper Island to recruit the trappers as allies against Belos. The trip ends with them learning King's a titan. As the above events unfold, Hunter goes undercover at Hexside and befriends the Emerald Entrails in order to recruit them to the Emperor's Coven. When that fails, Graye tries to brand them causing Gus to unleash a school-wide illusion, Gus incapacitates Graye with traumatic memories and takes his magic amplifier. Steve and Severine also leave the Emperor's Coven. Luz still receives Eda's Grudgby jacket. The Coven Heads' attempt to travel into Belos' mind is interfered with by Hunter, who along with our human protagonist gets sent in instead. Hunter ends up learning the truth about Belos, his being a grimwalker and defies him while our human hero figures out the purpose of the Day of Unity. It takes a return spell powered by Titan's Blood to bring them back. Philip still double-crosses the Collector makes a deal with Odalia and Alador. This leads to the creation of the abomatons. The protagonist discovers that glyphs don't work in the Human Realm due to a lack of magic. Both Blight parents learn the types of magic they use in canon through the artifacts Belos gives them. Alador has a Heel–Face Turn when he learns the truth of Belos' plans and divorces Odalia when she admits to having known the whole time and trying to benefit from it. Raine decides the best way to stop the Draining Spell for good is to have a Clawthorne disguise herself as them and corrupt it with her curse. Eda and Lilith make amends and the latter starts her Odd Friendship with Hooty. Even though canon-Season 3 isn't utilized, Luz gains a Super Mode while Belos learns King's a Titan and murders a main character, and Willow and Hunter are given a Maybe Ever After ending. | |
