Point of Divergence: Luffy, along with Ace and Sabo, getting their Devil Fruits through different means changes certain canon events: Since Luffy had already eaten a devil fruit, the one Shanks stole is left uneaten. Shanks never loses his arm since Luffy (along with Sabo and Ace) had already had devil fruits for over a year and knew how to fight with them, beating Higuma and his bandits by themselves. Crocodile has functionally zero intel on the Straw Hats due to Luffy killing the Unluckies before they even reach Whiskey Peak. As such, he doesn't realize how serious he needs to take Luffy. Thanks to Luffy's sheer power, the Straw Hats are able to force their way through Hina's blockade of Alabasta without Bon Clay having to act as a diversion. As such, he's able to avoid capture. Because they don't get into a fight with Masira, he happily leads the Straw Hats right to Jaya. Luffy decides to fight Bellamy in their first encounter rather than shrug it off, beating him then instead of later. | |
