The TV Tropes Pantheon is one of the Just for Fun features in TV Tropes. It began with something of assigning Gods and Goddesses of tropes, based on the Dungeons & Dragons pantheon system. As tropes grow, the Pantheon grew further and becomes something of an "Ultimate Massive Multiplayer Crossover Fanfic" based on TV Tropes. The characters in the Pantheon are referred as "Gods" and "Goddesses", each having a portfolio on what they can do, a set of followers and friends and enemies alike. Aside of that, there's also an Academy, a school-like setting for lesser ones to train and hopefully get promoted into the Pantheon. There's also an ongoing 'war' between the moral alignments: in form of the Grand United Alliances of Good, Evil, Law, Chaos, Destruction, Machines, and Nature. It's gotten so big that a work page is made, as it gained its own tropes unique to the Pantheon itself.Note: The following stories have their own pages. Year One Muse Hysteria (non-canon) Dark Proxies Vienna Burning Battle Royale: Round Two Lucifer's Eminence Stars Of Morning The Pantheonic Rebellion Diamond Adventure! The Dark Mystery (non-canon) The Morality Civil War Reformation of Law At Year's End Year Two Rider Taisen Rise of the Valkyrie Ragnarok Mechanical Outbreak The Ouroboros Chronicles Rainbow Rivalries Homunculus Theory On Shadowed Wings Revival Of Aku Virtual Breakout Lines Of Chaos Hostile Worlds Year Three Muppets In The Pantheon Ascension Tournament The Mice Of Mayhem

Stopped Caring: The characterization of Aleph as of the moment. After the punishment he had to deal with after killing YHVH, he broke to the point that he'd let the Pantheonic Rebellion tear everything apart when he could end it almost singlehandedly and casually mouth off to Beerus if he finds the cat obnoxious. After all, what could possibly top being tormented for eternity like he was?

Evil Versus Evil | |
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_1645005b | comment |
Evil Versus Evil: Well, not as much 'Evil' as much as they are really far removed from what people usually consider morality. In any case, Lucifer and YHVH are the two driving forces behind the Great Upheaval, the consequent Pantheonic Rebellion, and eventually the Diamond Disaster and undeniably bad news. As in their native series they are diametrically opposed to each other: in fact, the Great Upheaval was kicked off as a direct result of Lucifer's plan to get Homura on his side and use her against his Archenemy. Even more, they stand as the current Big Bad Ensemble.

Additionally, Acnolgia has often been getting smacked around by other dragon deities because he overestimates himself. Best example? Acnolgia tried to overpower Deathwing.note That's not just a massive difference in power, but size as well. Alternate Timeline
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_19b6f396 | comment |
A lot of this is justified for several reasons which come from the franchise itself: the video games have officially established that the extra-canonical stuff comes from alternate timelines, implying that certain abilities do exist and could be acquired by the main cast if that direction were willed to be taken. Also, the entire living cast of the main timeline got much stronger in Super, with Son Goku and Vegeta's Physical God status being only the lead example, so it would make no sense for characters who died and disappeared from canon without ever achieving Super Saiyan status to fully match the active equivalents of their video game buffs. Xenoverse Metal and Golden Cooler, meanwhile, are directly referenced as putting him on par with Golden Frieza, with the former case even fighting alongside his brother against the Saiyans on relatively equal terms.

Examples include Mario/Sonic, Tails/Luigi, Goku/Vegeta, Ryu/Ken, Ryu/Sagat, Ryu/Akuma, Tadakatsu/Lü Bu, Masamune/Yukimura, and the list goes on. The deities coming from Defense of the Ancients and League of Legends are more depicted as rivals here, of course. There are some exceptions with some deities from one series actually becoming followers to deities from the other (Eg: Juggernaut to Garen, Singed to Venomancer), as well as a crossover-Friendly Rivalry, between Axe and Darius.

A Boy and His X: A partnership between Pokémon and other, similar deities was introduced when the number of Pokémon in the pantheon rose quite high. Changing of the Guard: As new events go on and new deities ascend, it often happens that House heads change. One particular example is when the Friendship Trio was changed from Nanoha, Luffy, (these two now reside at the Houses of Popularity and Shape respectively) and Fluttershy to Ieyasu, Gentaro, and Nia. Later Ieyasu would move to the House of Combat, so Fluttershy went back to being part of the Friendship Trio, and later Kairi got added.

Outside-Genre Foe: Lucifer and YHVH. The first few Tales of the Alliance stories had to do with, as one may have guessed, fights between the Grand United Alliance of Good and the Grand United Alliance of Evil. Lucifer and YHVH are not affiliated with either: in fact, "Good" and "Evil" are not so easily applied to them at all as much as "Chaos" and "Law".

Even Evil Has Standards
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_319e4a2f | comment |
Even Evil Has Standards: Many of them would refer to Terumi as the line they wouldn't cross. Speaking of Terumi, even he thought that Jah'Rakal was too much of a douchebag to allow into the Trollkaiger. Several Sengoku period characters, such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Ishida Mitsunari, ABSOLUTELY hates Fortinbras, in spite of them being 'servants' of Fortinbras in the Onimusha-verse, because apparently they've gotten too much self-independence and hot blood, and such considers servitude over Fortinbras completely shameful and makes it that the Toyotomi faction is ABSOLUTELY forbidden to get on the good graces of the Genma and conduct a 'Kill-On-Sight' policy on them. Just about the only Sengoku period person that renews the alliance with Fortinbras is Oda Nobunaga, but only because he became a real Demon King on his own terms rather than getting help from Fortinbras. Dhuum, the unjust god of death who absolutely despises resurrection and undeath, hates cheaters and trolls. Although they're still lower on his priority list. Evil programs such as the Master Control Program and Clu would never try to cripple their opponents through fast flashing lights. Master Xehanort's plan to recreate the χ-Blade using twenty people (seven light, thirteen darkness) is something most villains oppose, even going as far as to ask Melkor to kick him out. Even Lord Voldemort knows this is beyond insanity. And various gods would never do anything to harm Winnie the Pooh or his friends and put Master Xehanort or Hunter J high on their enemy lists upon hearing the incident when Pooh had to say "goodbye" to himself. For all his notoriety in trying to usurp a kingdom through unsavory means, even Prince Hans wants nothing to do with Malty S Melromarc. As much as he despises his family, Hans has no intentions of putting himself on the throne by killing his entire family. He also finds Malty to be too much of a hassle in his goals, since she isn't demure. Say what you will about the parenting tactics of Ghetsis Harmonia, Lucrezia Mongfish, and Relius Clover, but even they are offput by what Ragyo Kiryuin did to her daughter. Though there's a Subversion with Dio Brando, who loathes Ragyo ... because he thinks she's a ripoff of him.

Downplayed with Malekith, who despite being a villain, has taken up some Character Development and had begun to strike Alliances beyond just Dark Elves and enslaved beasts. He's notably more honorable and nicer than he was back in Naggaroth and takes to sympathising with many residents, including Madoka, Zuko and Anakin and opposing the Child Abuse Supporters. That said, he is still the warmongering and sadistic Witch-King back in Naggaroth, but given that he too opposes the GUAE, Heroic deities are willing to enter Enemy Mine situations with him, although Malekith also does this with Darkseid and Sauron.

Noodle Incident: Some can be downright hilarious. Can be a case of It Makes Sense in Context if the said incident is a reference to the god's series that doesn't get explained properly. Examples include: A recurring one happens to involve Gangrel, Edge, Christian and both Matt and Jeff Hardy. They all have a history with one another with Edge, Christian and the Hardy Brothers not wanting to explain what it is, and Gangrel laughing at the formers' attempts to not say a word. And before you ask, no, Luna Vachon herself has no idea what happened (she points out that she married Gangrel after the Brood ended.) Of course, there's the question of what's beneath Double D's hat. What happened when Chie, Yukiko and Rise tried to atone for Mystery Food X and wound up making something even worse, all that's known is that the smell alone caused a riot, and that Andrew Zimmern and Pac-man were the two who consumed it to no ill effects. The exact specifications of what happened to everyone else are probably best left to the imagination... What Belarus did to get herself banned from the House of Personal Appearance. All that's known is that it involved Kaworu Nagisa.

Many of the gods. Lucifer deserves special mention: Out of all of the participants in the aftermath of Madoka's downfall, he barely even showed up. But through a combination of good timing and a couple of well-placed verbal daggers, he managed to convince Homura into joining his ranks, throwing the entire Pantheon and, to a lesser extent, the Magical Girl Sisterhood into utter mayhem. Who saw that coming? Ironically, he becomes the target of this himself, by none other than Rika Furude, who orchestrated the nearly successful assassination attempt on him, being driven to insanity by Lol Ranger and is via Enemy Without indirectly responsible for Zenon's rampage nearly killing him again. The worst she got out of it in exchange was an Implied Death Threat from Coyote Starrk warning her about doing it again unless Lucifer does something to directly harm her or her friends.

Alternate Continuity: This is the case in several canons such as Sly Coopernote while Thieves in Time ended the same way, Sly ended up in modern day Egypt during the 2013 coup d'état, three months after Le Paradox's defeat, and returned to France not long afterwards, Puella Magi Madoka Magicanote as The Great Upheaval has its own take on the events of Rebellion, and especially modern Professional Wrestlingnote with the modern WWE product's increasingly-confusing state of canon no longer being the definitive word, the pre-WWE histories of wrestlers such as Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles are now more closely accounted for. While Descendants is not canon to the pantheon, Rainbow Rivalries confirms that Mal and Uma exist in some form, although it's likely just a gag.

Broad Strokes: Due to the many Composite Characters, this or Loose Canon often has to be employed both in regards to characterization and the character pages, resulting in a lot of inconsistency and loose ends; characters in the Pantheon are somehow all versions of themselves at the same time. Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_5860c090 | comment |
Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Quite a few gods have a personal beef with other gods, if purely for comedic purposes. A good example is Ryoubi hating the guts out of Rias Gremory, because not only is the latter's breasts are larger than the former's, they both sound similar, and have clashing positions. Princess Cadance harbors this attitude with Kyu Sugardust due to their different approaches to love. The love fairy, despite being the lesser moral one between the two, doesn't hold this attitude in return, however. Both are often involved when it comes to deities with harem situations and cross paths a lot. While Tien Shinhan and Vegeta IV never really liked each other in canon Dragon Ball, generally keeping their distance even after the latter fully reformed, their frosty relationship takes on the trappings of this trope highlighted by Team Four Star's Dragon Ball Z Abridged series, where the two like to needle each other every chance they get.

Enemy Mine: Every god in the House of Crime will team up together if Prince Charmles ever gets within 500 feet of the house. Even Issac and Miria hate his guts. On the same vein, Prince Charmles is not allowed near the House of Royaltynote Well, until he was deified there. and every Equestrian God and Goddess (including Discord) have no qualms in seeing him suffer. Most every dragon-related and/or dragon-hating god would team up to fight Acnologia with the exception of Grima, even gods who are usually against each other. Fighting him is the only time Issei Hyodo and Vali Lucifer would ever think of teaming up with Dragonslayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough (who have both repeatedly attempted to kill the former two), and vice-versa. Byakuren Hijiri and Toyosatomimi no Miko are usually opposed to each other (they're The Dueling Messiahs after all), but both wouldn't hesitate to put aside their differences to defeat him.

Jerkass Has a Point: Kratos has a rather strong dislike for many of the heroic Kombatants in regards to how they abandoned Raiden after a certain fallout, stating that despite his mistakes, his actions were still noble and he's more trustworthy than other gods Kratos has a displeasure of knowing. The fact that many of those former allies are reconciling with Raiden does nothing to temper his scorn. Time will tell if Liu Kang and Kitana's Korrected Timeline fares better in that regard. None of the Devil May Cry cast, with the exception of Sparda and Eva (who is his Herald) and Nero and Kyrie (who is also his Herald), have any kind of romantic ties to each other. It's all family and friends. Even Kat, who was a lover to Nephilim Vergil until he made her forget it and then later moved on with Nephilim Dante after his betrayal, doesn't tread in that direction with the originals, mainly because they're both decidedly older than that. She travels with Vergil the most, but there are several reasons for it (he's decided to help her become stronger as well, and given that all the other partners are usually with Dante or Nero, she's there to help keep him honest).

Named by the Adaptation
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_71748a39 | comment |
Named by the Adaptation: Pretty much every name and/or nickname any character has ever had is acknowledged next to their bold name and title, including cases of this trope. Nonetheless there are instances where adaptation and spinoff names are factored into a character's profile. The Persona protagonists in particular go by Hello, [Insert Name Here] in the main games but are given a whole assortment of different names afterward depending on the medium. The closest to direct Atlus canon is used as their proper name. This starts as easily as Spin-Off titles and The Anime of the Game (Makoto Yuki, Yu Narukami, Ren Amamiya/Joker), usually supplanting another name from the Comic-Book Adaptation which is subsequently hand waved as a bad secondhand account. Otherwise, depending on what's available one may even go down to the Screen-to-Stage Adaptation (Kotone Shiomi).note Atlus themselves seem to be treating Kotone as canon, if allowing GungHo Entertainment to give her that name in her Puzzle & Dragons appearance is anything to go by.

Put on a Bus: Gods get depowered after taking a vital blow, prompting them to return at a later time in some stories. Examples are Signum, Sub-Zero and Barbara Gordon (justified for the latter as she returned to her Batgirl role). Because of This Very Wiki's own spoiler policy of The Force Awakens, every Star Wars' profile was temporarily removed for fear of spoilers. Tarzan isn't allowed to appear in any of the tales because of his author's estate imposing a strict Fanwork Ban on him. Half of the ascended cast from RWBY got their participation on tales cut due to the end of Volume 3 changing the fates of many of its ascended characters, the most prominent being Pyrrha Nikos, Roman Torchwick and Yang Xiao Long (The former two were killed in said volume while Yang lost an arm during the final battle). The events of "Diamond Adventure" have caused the three main protagonists of Kingdom Hearts to temporary leave the pantheon for their own safety and to prepare for the fight against Xehanort in the upcoming war. The same tale has also written out Jak and Daxter for related reasons. Riku returns in "The Mice of Mayhem".

Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_779009b5 | comment |
Beware the Quiet Ones: Many of the gods. Beware the Silly Ones: Osaka may be one of the shining examples of a Cloudcuckoolander, but beware, she is one of the few goddesses in the Pantheon that Johan Liebert is afraid of, and for good reason: one time he tried to break her by talking, and her mental landscape was so 'round the bend that Johan ended up giving up on breaking her because trying to follow her bizarre logic and train of thought gave him a massive headache and frustrated him greatly. Not bad for one of formerly lesser power rank. Courtney Gears is somewhat a minor villain in her franchise. Wham Episode: At first, Puella Magi Madoka Magica serves as one, what with the changes to the Magical Girl system and the rise of Madoka Kaname. However, it gets out-whammed by the third movie, detailing Madoka's loss of power and Homura's ascension as a self-proclaimed demon. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time shows Penelope's Face–Heel Turn. Upon returning to the pantheon after escaping prison, she finds herself kicked out of the GUAG for treason and everyone she was friends with shunning her. Although she quickly disappears under the radar after joining the GUAE, Penelope has pointed out that she'll have her revenge on those who had wronged her. Nobody is taking it seriously, dismissing her as an Attention Whore. The Season 4 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is a contender. Lord Tirek was crowned God of the Mana Drain—a threat that the likes of Melkor wouldn't be near—while Discord is now a permanent member of the GUAG. The events of "Diamond Adventure" caused major blows to three factions. The GUAL is under a revolt, the GUAC is in a state of mistrust after several deities were kidnapped or attacked by its members, and the GUAG has several crucial members out of commission. Midway in "Rainbow Rivalries", Count Olaf uses the Medusoid Mycelium as a weapon against Sayaka Miki and several Final Fantasy characters (and, near the end, Ratchet), and comes dangerously close to permanently killing them.

Seven Deadly Sins: The inner circle of the Grand United Alliance of Chaos, the Lords of Chaos, are seven powerful demon lords representing the seven sins, plus an eighth unfilled one for Naoki Kashima should he join. Lucifer represents Pride, Beelzebub Gluttony, Homura Akemi Sloth/Despair, Grandfather Paradox is Envy, Steven Armstrong is Wrath, Alipheese Fateburn the 16th represents Lust, and the Boss of the 3rd Street Saints represents Greed. The Seven Deadly Sins themselves exist in the Pantheon as well collectively representing Attractive Demons: they work for the GUAC after Lady Lucifer foolishly picked a fight with the aforementioned Lords of Chaos and got their asses handed to them. And eventually, Father Homunculus managed to ascend all of his Ouroboros offspring* though he had nothing to do with Greed, for obvious reasons.

Loophole Abuse | |
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_b1dde8fd | comment |
Loophole Abuse: There's a rule of the Pantheon that characters from major religion can't be part of the pantheon as that will be consider sacrilege. However, the pantheon does include SMT's YHVH, Lucifer and Gabriel, South Park's Satan and Castlevania's Satan. This is because they are base on fictional versions of those characters which are allowed. There's another rule that states actual Gods can't be deified for tropes they are already known for like Aphrophite can't get Love Goddess and Ares can't be a War God. However, Thor is still the God of Thunder. That's because he is base on his Marvel version who isn't the actual God Thor. Sometimes anyway. There's also Roman God Vulcan who is God of the Forge and Japanese Goddess Amaterasu who is Goddess of the Sun. That's because they are fictional version and their God titles aren't the direct trope. That would be Ultimate Blacksmith and Power of the Sun.

Top God: Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson are the chief gods but they have no involvement in the major goings-on of the Pantheon, existing as creator figures to represent the tropers more than as characters in their own right. The closest the Pantheon has to active "supreme deities" are the Alliance leaders. There used to be a Holy Trinity consisting of Haruhi, Dream of the Endless and Eru Iluvatar, who were considered superior to the Alignment Incarnations. However due to the poor quality of their profiles, this Holy Trinity wound up getting dismantled. They're still in the Pantheon, but in different, lesser positions.

Killed Off for Real: Hard if not impossible to do since the Pantheon canon is that gods tend to regenerate, but this fate happened to Cairne Bloodhoof and Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryusai, who are no longer within the Pantheon. Averted with Mufasa. While he did disappear in the Pantheon's early years, believed to have been killed permanently by Scar, it was revealed he had gone back to the Pride Lands to guide his grandchildren before making his official return to the Pantheon. Another deity who is implied to have died for good is Pyrrha Nikos, who has not been seen in the Pantheon since the Battle of Beacon, though there have been unconfirmed sightings of her ghost hanging around her temple. Ultimately subverted when she recovered in the house of Life and Death. Precia Testarossa used to share Ghetsis Harmonia's position as Abusive Parents but then fizzled out until she resurfaced, pulled a Heroic Sacrifice to save Fate, then died from her wounds. Fate then proceeds to lose her shit on Relius.

Lighter and Softer: Characterzation: Sasuke Uchiha has reformed himself from an Ax-Crazy revenge-thirsty bastard to a Jerkass (To Naruto and his allies and friends, of course.). After his final fight with Naruto, he's become much nicer afterwards.) Another example is Philemon, who used to be more of a negligent Jerkass prior to the aftermath of the Nyarlathotep incident. After a a punch to the face by Tatsuya Suou, he's become a nicer deity. The Pantheon's taken a page out of the Madoka fanon's book and made Mami Tomoe and Charlotte best friends in-Pantheon. Then came Rebellion. Nagato and Obito Uchiha have taken an approach to atone for the sins of their past actions and are currently developing an organization to enforce peace, freedom and stability in the Pantheon whilst also recruiting honorable villains and anti-heroes for the chance to provide them redemption just as much as they themselves do. Vlad von Carstein, at least in regards to after the End Times. He is a bloodthirsty vampire who will kill others for their blood to satiate his hunger and controls a monarchy of ruthless monsters, but the End Times had revealed him to be honorable and cares about the opinions and survival of other races. He even allies with the aforementioned Nagato, giving him more time to showcase his gentlemanly demeanour and has made a point to feast upon the very worst beings in the Pantheon, which fortunately for anyone good, there is a lot. He's even gotten to helping out the GUAG against the GUAD at many given moments. Tales "Battle Royale: Round 2" is quite lighthearted compared to the imminent predecessor stories. It doesn't stop it from being dark, considering one villain breaks one character's leg before turning him and his best friend into crystals, and another extracts the darkness from two All-Stars and tries to control another with his darkness. Other: Applejack has commissioned House of Personality because of she and various others are disgusted with two things: One was all the planners and schemers in the House of Mentalism, and two was the very few light bulbs around said house.

Treachery Is a Special Kind of Evil
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_d5d34629 | comment |
Treachery Is a Special Kind of Evil: Zigzagged trope, depending on the person in question. Downplayed with Homura Akemi when she usurped Madoka's godhood and became a self-proclaimed Goddess Of Evil. Most of the Sisterhood shunned her for Madoka's downfall, but some people have sympathized with her because she was fearful for her friend's safety. For Penelope Mouse, it's played deeply straight because her betrayal of the Cooper Gang was out of jealousy and greed, and it was proven that she never loved Bentley at all. Even Homura is disgusted with Penelope, and Madoka hates Penelope as well since she acted on pure selfishness. The trope is now helmed by Mannfred von Carstein who represents it because it was his deceitful nature and constant backstabbing and betrayal that doomed and destroyed his world before entering the Pantheon. He may be just as bad, if not worse, than Penelope as his betrayals were far larger-scaled than hers and he has no remorse over all of his actions.

Dub Name Change | |
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_e2c4b927 | comment |
Dub Name Change: Pretty much every name and/or nickname any character has ever had is acknowledged next to their bold name and title, including cases of this trope. Nonetheless there are instances where different localized names are factored into a character's profile. For example: Following the lead of at least two Street Fighter adaptations, the Master of the Fist is written as though Gouki was the original name he was born with and he became known as Akuma after killing Goutetsu. The Pantheon also gleefully follows the official canon decision as of SFIV and SFV combining the dub and original names of Guile's dead combat buddy for the full name of Charlie Nash. Dragon Ball's Fake Ultimate Hero is called Hercule on Western television rather than have a good guy outright hailed by the name of Satan. This is factored into the revelation that Mr. Satan is actually the title he won as the Satan Castle dojo's strongest fighter, portraying Hercule as a nickname he earned on the way which he sometimes uses in front of certain audiences or deities, either in place of or along with the Mr. Satan name. Attack names also seem to get this treatment, as Kienzan is treated as a general name for energy disc attacks with Krillin's Destructo Disc being the signature example.

Morality Pet: Some mon partnerships can be this; the mon can be either the one who gets influenced or the one who influences. For an example of the latter, there's Dukemon and Karin, who're a case of gender-inverted Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl. Stock Gods: Given the Massive Multiplayer Crossover nature of the Pantheon, listing every deity whose domain overlaps with one of the archetypes would be futile. But generally speaking, anyone in certain houses and halls can fit into the major Stock God molds: God of Good: The House of Heroism. Also, it's common for any heroic deity to have "Heroism" in their portfolio. God of Evil: The House of Villainy. Also, just about every Evil-aligned deity has "Evil" (or some variation) in their portfolio. God of Balance Between Good and Evil: The House of Ambiguity. God of Chaos: Shares the Hall of Order and Chaos (House of Philosophy) with Order deities. God of Order: The Houses of Law and Justice, Leadership, and to an extent Royalty. See also the the Hall of Order and Chaos (House of Philosophy). God of Nature: The Houses of Nature, Plants, and Beasts and Fauna. God of Light/God of Darkness: Both share the Hall of Light and Dark Colors (House of Colours). There's also the Halls of Darkness and Shadow and of Light and Brightness (House of Nature). Lord of the Ocean: The Hall of Water and Moisture (House of Nature). God of Thunder: The Hall of Electricity (House of Nature). God of Fire: The Hall of Fire and Heat (House of Nature). Hunter God: The Hall of Hunters (House of Jobs and Profession) War God: The Houses of Military and Warfare and of Fighting and Combat. Love Goddess: The House of Love and Affection, and to an extent the Hall of Physical Attractiveness (House of Personal Appearance). Ultimate Blacksmith: The House of Machinery and Technology. Dreamweaver: The Hall of Dreams and Nightmares (House of Mentalism). God of the Arts: The Houses of Craft, Musicality, and of Theatre and Spectacle. God Of Knowledge: The Houses of Knowledge, Mentalism, Philosophy, Science, and (to some degree) Magic and Sorcery. Also includes the House of Prophecy and Fate in the case of oracular gods. Healer God: The House of Health and Diseases. God of the Dead: The House of Death and Postmortem. Trickster God: The Hall of Trickery (House of Mentalism). Messenger God: The Houses of Travel and of Media and Connectivity. Wealth / Luck God: The House of Commerce and House of Luck and Fortune. Household God: The House of Family and Relatives.

Composite Character | |
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_e4965307 | comment |
Composite Character: Most Gods are an amalgamation of nearly every of their incarnations. For instance, Batman has some elements taken from the show starring Adam West, such as the "Nananananana Batman!" song as one of his 'less serious' Leitmotif and used to be unable to get rid of bombs in the past, but he was able to overcome it via The Dark Knight Rises. In the same time, He's also a fanboy of the Gray Ghost and eats hot dogs (but not Nachos) as well as having ventured to the universe where Superman becomes a tyrant. He also only works in black...or sometimes very, very dark grey. There's also Bane who is mostly based on his The Dark Knight Rises incarnation, however, remembers a time about being a Dumb Muscle in Batman & Robin. He's not pleased about it. At all. Most obvious is also Hercules. In the same time, he's the mythical hero, the Disney version of himself (his theme song is "Zero to Hero"), the same guy in the Marvel-verse, the envious Hulk-like giant who fought Kratos and lost, the Champion of Rome, and Illya's Berserker... if you call him Jerkules, you just unleashed his Superpowered Evil Side in his villainous DC-verse self. Speaking of Greek Myth, Zeus himself is also an amalgamation of some of his original mythical God, the extreme asshole that earned the ire of Kratos, has fought in the battlefield of Gods and also to some, amongst the Radiant Heroes. The last one also seemed to apply to the original Medusa, while the first 3 also apply to Aphrodite, being the original Love Goddess, the last survivor of Kratos' onslaught of Olympus and the Broken Bird as seen in the battlefield of Gods. Another example would be Honda Tadakatsu. Even if he's from the Sengoku Basara-verse, he also recalls a rivalry with Lu Bu which only happened in Warriors Orochi. Lu Bu himself is also both his Dynasty Warriors self and the Berserker of Fate/EXTRA self. Another example is Long John Silver, who can transform into a cyborg when near certain Gods. At these times, he is much nicer. Mister Freeze is basically his Pre-New 52 self with shades of his animated incarnation. The Arthurian characters (Arturia and Lancelot) combine both aspects from the Nasuverse and the Monty Python verse. Arturia also combines from the Soul Eater verse, recognizing the loony Excalibur. Ganondorf actually invoked this in a gambit to get more power. The end result was his Hyrule Warriors self. Several original characters from Kingdom Hearts also hold elements of their manga counterparts, such as Xion's Cuteness Proximity towards dogs. Several Disney characters also have elements of their KH selves, most noticeably Maleficent, who's also composed with her Anti-Heroine self. Clu has the memories of his original iteration who was derezzed by the MCP, and is even friendly to any Bits that come across his Throneship. Most every God from Warhammer 40,000, have traits of their If the Emperor Had a Text-to-Speech Device counterparts once they've shown up in the series, which adds quite a bit of humor to the normally grim-dark nature of said gods. Magnus the Red and the Emperor are the ones most hit by this though, as thanks to this, the former has the Heel–Face Turn he made there, abandoned Tzeentch and they've both forgiven each other and are now allies! Subverted with Evangelion's Asuka. While she does have traits of her tv and Rebuild self, it's portray as a form of multi personality disorder and will switch accordingly. She even has a third personality base on her Angelic Days self. Godzilla is a combination of both its TOHO and Legendary counterpart. It has fought with the likes of King Ghidorah and Gigan like in Japan, but his appearance is base on his second American adaptation. Subverted with deities of Warhammer Fantasy. Some of the ascended characters are directly based on their pre-Age of Sigmar iterations and it's made clear that each character's ascension occurs either directly or sometime after the events of the End Times. The iconic canon characters of Dragon Ball are essentially their original manga/Super anime selves, with some bits of Dragon Ball Z Abridged personality humor sprinkled in (or lots, in the case of Nappa). That said, given how Filler, Non-Serial Movie, and Dragon Ball GT characters do continue to impact both the franchise and the Pantheon, the canon characters who know of them do take on certain elements and powers from those extra-canonical materials, though they might achieve them a bit differently (such as Super Saiyan 4 and Super 17 from GT). Transformations that deceased canon characters only take on in video games do exist, such as Raditz, Nappa, and Bardock going SSJ3, but are generally treated as being somewhat weaker than either the equivalents of those who actually got the forms in canon, or any advances made by characters who were non-canon to begin with, such as Cooler* Villainous Metal Cooler, Golden Cooler and Legendary Broly* Super Saiyan 3, Super Saiyan 4, Broly God. Paragus is an outright composite of his Movie 8/Heroes and canon BR self, being largely the same person but with two different lifetimes. Broly, however, is an exception. Artix von Krieger combines both his original and alternate personas in that he's both a Paladin of the High Order, actually born as the Champion of Darkness and trained as an Undead Slayer but also has a fear of the color pink.

Adaptation Origin Connection: The rhino that killed James Henry Trotter's parents is actually a Heartless called the Behemoth. In fact, it was the same one that Sora, Donald, and Goofy vanquished in the Keyhole in Hollow Bastion.

Decomposite Character
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_f0508c08 | comment |
Decomposite Character: Both Date Masamune and Mori Motonari are decidedly different with their Musou counterparts, with Motonari not bothered enough to care, and Masamune condemning his alternate self's Smug Snake attitude and alignment with Orochi. The Gods from the Injustice: Gods Among Us are also different from the Gods in the Pantheon. The Belmonts (and Alucard and Sypha) and Dracula are mostly taken from the IGA-timeline, being different than the ones in the Lords of Shadow continuity (thus Dracula is still Mathias Cronqvist, not Gabriel Belmont, although the latter ascended on his own). There's also two Gilgameshes who crossed swords with each other. The less said about the Captain N incarnations of Simon, Alucard and Sypha, the better. There's also two Hades. One of them has a comedic personality, and the other is much more sinister. Amusingly enough, the former eventually became a Composite Character with the original Hades from the Greek myths, or at least one portrayal of him. Broly's Movie 8 and Movie 20 incarnations are so irreconcilably different that the movie 20 version had to be ascended separately from the movie 8 version. Broly:BR is a socially-stunted and incompletely trained exile who survived an inhospitable planetoid and found himself being used as a tool for what ostensibly is his own revenge quest. Legendary Broly is a murderous, violence-worshiping brute who was scarred from birth by an endlessly-crying baby in the next pod over and a king who tried to kill him. This is aside from the fact that, without his video game forms, Legendary Broly would be worlds away from even being a close match to Broly:BR in strength, given that any advance or new portrayal of Broly's power is always measured by the ever-evolving metric of "what it would mean to completely overwhelm the main Dragon Ball cast at this time" and only Broly God* a form which debuted at Universal Studios Japan's The Real 4-D at Super Tenkaichi Budokai before being introduced to Dragon Ball Heroes was designed to overmatch Super Saiyan Blue Goku like Broly:BR's Full Power state. Illyasviel von Einzbern used to have had her standard Holy Grail incarnation and her Magical Girl Prisma Illya incarnation composited, until a separate trope could be found for the latter and they were promptly separated. Who knew how much more well-adjusted she could be, or how much better off the world could be, if Kiritsugu Emiya had dropped his obsession with a selfish justice and chosen to protect his family instead?

Death Equals Redemption: Precia Testarossa used to be one of the most reviled Gods of the Pantheon. However, due to some more sympathetic portrayals (1st movie and INNOCENT), she lost most of her influence and ended up performing a Heroic Sacrifice to save Fate from Ghetsis. Afterwards, responses about her become more positive.

Running Gag | |
Trope Pantheons (Fanfic) / int_f9f2c33 | comment |
Running Gag: Bear wrestling, as Zangief, Daniel Bryan and even Fluttershy has gotten involved in it (although in Fluttershy's case she was trying to be a chiropractor). Meeting Excalibur and then getting the (ﺧ益ﺨ) face. All gods with Yuri Lowenthal as a voice actor have different reactions to one another. For example, Yosuke is utterly creeped out by Amane Nishiki, but finds Ben Tennyson a cool guy to hang out with. It's not uncommon for Persona 4 or Metal Gear Solid portfolios to have things related to Hiimdaisy Did you see some notoriously powerful evil Gods teaming up and planning to bringing doom to the Pantheon? Well... BE VERY AFRAID! There are verses similar to the bible whenever a deity makes a rule. There's a gag about how "making X mad" is the "X number stupidest thing to do" according to the main house. If Suburban Knights is referenced, expect gods who were cosplayed at the time looking in either interest or confusion at it all. Same goes for To Boldly Flee if it was mentioned. Lea being referred to by his former name, Axel, which started in a canon game. Belldandy insists that she's 17 years old. note Oi, oi… However, only I-No and Insarn found said gag as unfunny. You will be hard-pressed to find a dragon-related deity who doesn't hate Acnologia's guts or has been hunted by him. Additionally, Acnolgia has often been getting smacked around by other dragon deities because he overestimates himself. Best example? Acnolgia tried to overpower Deathwing.note That's not just a massive difference in power, but size as well. To make it easier for readers at home to visualize the sheer size difference, Acnolgia is a Chihuahua, Deathwing is a Caucasian Shepherd Dog◊ If there is a notable Abridged Series for a work, chances are, any god from that work will have a some sort of reference to it. If James and Meowth ever encounter someone wearing headgear that conceals the eyes (especially a blindfold), expect them to hightail out of the area in fear right away. There's a reason for that... Whenever Laura Bodewig refers to Ichika Orimura as her wife, expect a gobsmacked reaction from the faces of other deities. Every time Dr. Nefarious appears, expect him to break down during one of his rages and hear a bit of Lance and Janice. Take one shot if you see a dragon-based deity, be it good or evil, getting pursued by Ornstein and Smough. If Team RWBY and Team JNPR are seen in the House of Food, expect them to start a massive Food Fight. At least before February 2016, when one of them dies and another loses her arm. April O'Neil has a tendency to do surprise interviews whenever she's in a tale. The most common target for these interviews was Riku (until he left). Also, expect several memetic references on each of Mann Co's. Mercenaries to be present on their respective profiles. If a Dota 2 deity happens to have a direct port in Heroes of Newerth, then they will make a mention to the Hero of Newerth, mostly being a High Priest (though if there is a Divergent Character Evolution, then the link can weaken into just Follower) Also any Dota 2 deities (touted as 'Defenders of the Ancients') are bound to list the League of Legends deities (touted as 'Champions of Runeterra') as their rivals and vice versa. If one could be friends instead, it'll be listed as Friendly Rivalry. Characters expressing annoyance at their fans shipping them with others and/or trying to date them. Sometimes indulging them in the former case.
