But Keith isn't portrayed antagonistically, in fact he actually makes a great point about Sebastian self-sabotaging himself and how traditional jazz cannot be popular again until it evolves to be more like what people are listening to today.

Later on, after Mia takes off back to Boulder City, he uses the same trick to locate her house, much to the annoyance of the neighbors. Early in the movie, Sebastian chastises his sister for sitting on a prized wooden stool that belonged to a famous jazz musician. At the end of the film, the stool is displayed prominently in Sebastian's own jazz bar and is basically the first thing anyone sees when they enter the room. It's even on a pedestal putting it at roughly chest height. No one is ever sitting on it again. During the Fantasy Sequence, Sebastian is seen playing at the famous Parisian jazz club "Caveau de la Huchette", whose name coincidentally sounds like a French version of his idea of "Chicken on a Stick".
