Woods drugs Becky, then asks Roy a series of strange questions before killing him, much to the confusion of Dosmo, who thought they were supposed to be collecting on gambling debts. Turns out Woods was hired to kill Roy, and recruited Dosmo for the sole purpose of framing him as the killer. Woods shoots Dosmo and leaves him in a car rigged to explode. In the company of his equally vicious girlfriend Helga, Woods goes to arrange the scene at the Foxx household so all evidence will lead to Dosmo, and once the cops find the evidence and Dosmo's body, they'll have nothing else to go on and Woods will get away clean.Unfortunately for Woods, Dosmo survives being shot thanks to a bulletproof vest and manages to escape the car before it blows up. Over the course of two chaotic days, the lives and fortunes of the two hitmen will pull multiple people into their orbit before they clash once more, including several cops, rich but very obnoxious art dealer Allan Hopper, Hopper's much put upon assistant Susan and his sister Audrey, suicidal former TV Producer Teddy, and especially Becky Foxx, who was the one who hired Woods in the first place.The movie stars Danny Aiello, Greg Cruttwell, Jeff Daniels, Teri Hatcher, Glenne Headly, Peter Horton, Marsha Mason, Paul Mazursky, James Spader, Eric Stoltz, and Charlize Theron, in the latter's first speaking film role.note She previously had a small, non-speaking, uncredited role in Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest.It was released on September 27, 1996.

Detectives Creighton and Valenzuela believe Becky's lies, and Creighton unprofessionally hits on her. They also are easily surprised by a hitman returning to the crime scene. However, they quickly pick up on how the cigarette pack was obviously planted there to mislead them, given how the rest of the hit is completely free of any trace evidence.
