These devices are made to interact with Mons in diverse ways. One of the most standard is Capture Balls, which are made to capture and then summon once used. Another is Monster Compendiums, which analyzes and gathers information about Mons. Mon Tech can do more than capture, tame, and summon. One of the most common is being able to perform an Evolution Power-Up. Usually, a Mon Tech would use The Power of Friendship by creating a bond between a Mon and the tamer. They may also have other abilities to support Mons while giving the tamer powers. They are often an artifact of Mons originating in overt video game systems. Mon Tech may be Merchandise-Driven depending on the franchise, especially if it relates to Anime.
Sub-Trope of Applied Phlebotinum and Mon.

Digimon:
Digimon Adventure: Digivices are used by the Digidestined to channel their emotions so their Digimon partners can Digivolve. They can evolve to Champion independently, but being supported by their Crests and the bond with the Digimon allows them to Digivolve to Ultimate and then Mega.
Digimon Adventure 02: The new D3 Digivices not only enable their users to open portals to the Digital World from computers, but also allow their users to use Armor Digivolution via interaction with the Digimentals stored in D-Terminals, and DNA Digivolve their Digimon to Ultimate and Mega levels. The former comes in handy when dealing with the Digimon Emperor's Control Spires, which prevent normal Digivolution but has no effect on Armor Digivolution.
Digimon Tamers: The D-Arks allow their bearers to see through their Digimon's eyes, be alerted to and scan enemy Digimon, track their partner Digimon's location, boost their partner Digimon's abilities by slashing cards through their readers, with Blue Cards allowing them to Digivolve to Ultimate level, and even fuse together to Mega level via Biomerging.
Digimon Frontier has the D-Tector as the season's resident Digivice. This model is used by the cast to transform into Digimon for their battles, and also is able to purify the spirits of powerful Digimon.

Shin Megami Tensei:
COMPs are handheld or wrist-mounted computer devices used to transport and summon demons via the Demon Summoning Program.
Persona 3: The Evoker is a fairly dark example of this. The device heavily resembles a gun, and SEES use it to summon their Personas, since an acceptance of death is key to summoning a Persona in the real world, and the Evoker summons them specifically by having the user put the barrel to their head and pulling the trigger, effectively miming suicide.

Trade Machines are also used to trade ownership of Pokémon between two Trainers. They can even be used to evolve particular Pokémon. Technical Machines and Technical Records are items that teach Pokémon Moves. In the current generation, the difference is that TMs have weaker, more common Moves that can be used infinitely. Kamen Rider Gotchard: In addition to the various Drivers that the Riders use to harness the power of the Chemies, the Alchemists' Union also possesses Chemy Risers, wrist-mounted devices that they can use to both capture Chemies and harness their powers without the need to transform into a Kamen Rider.

Pokémon X and Y: A trainer can use a Mega Ring that uses a Key Stone to react to a Mega Stone held by a Pokémon to achieve Mega Evolution. The exception to this rule is Rayquaza in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, who can only become Mega Rayquaza if it knows Dragon Ascent.
