Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_content_3'); })Whereas some video games give you a Wallet of Holding in which you can eventually stash more money than you ever could use, other games aren't so generous about letting you have the money you need to buy that really useful item, no matter how good you are at beating the coins out of Money Spiders. When there are useful items on sale for more than your standard wallet can hold, you need a Wallet Upgrade, which can be any sort of item (which you may have to buy at no small cost) or even an in-game event that raises the amount of money you can carry on yourself. Related to Cap, which usually describes a hard limit. |

In Star Fox Adventures, at first Fox can only carry up to 10 Scarabs (the only wallet he has is that of his own clothes), but after helping a character in SnowHorn Wastes he receives a Scarab Bag that allows him to store up to 50. As the game progresses, he'll get subsequent larger wallets to carry up to 100, and then to 200. | |

Most later games in The Legend of Zelda series have wallet upgrades that let Link carry more Rupees: 99 to 200, then 500 in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. 200 to 1000, then 5000 in The Wind Waker. 300 to 600, then 1000 in Twilight Princess. 300 to 500, then 1000, then 5000 and finally 9000 in Skyward Sword. Still not enough? Beedle sells three additional wallet upgrades that raise the current cap by 300 Rupees each, for a total of 900 and thus 9000 + 900 = 9900. |
