Ghost Fixers is an Action Horror manga by Yasuki Tanaka, better known for being the creator of Summertime Rendering. The manga began serialization online in Shonen Jump + on March 22, 2024.Seven years ago, the lively town of Mikurigaoka New Town was enveloped by a pizarre phenomenon known as Fafrotskies. Strange beings known as "ghosts" fell from the skies, taking on the forms of supernatural creatures and objects. The casualties—50,982 dead, 12,207 missing. In response, the Japanese government called upon "specialists" to protect citizens. Under the newly-formed Correction Bureau, New Town, the ground zero of most incidents, came under tight supervision and monitoring. The manga follows the story of two young specialists: Hifumi Kagome, a local who comes from a family of specialists, and Moka Kirarazaka, a newcomer from a long-line of Shinto priests. They... don't exactly get along too well, but they're stuck with each other as partners. | |

Ghost Town: Obvious pun aside, New Town is basically deserted after the Fafrotskies incident, with the only people still living there being either specialists or the families of specialists. Because surprisingly enough, most people don't want to live in a town crawling with dangerous otherworldly creatures.

Buddy Cops: In classic buddy cop fashion, Hifumi and Moka are constantly at each other's throats, yet the two of them need to work together to take down ghosts.

Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Hifumi's secondary is a toy sword capable of cutting through anything. The weapon Moka defaults to is an auto-looping submachine gun.

Our Ghosts Are Different: The term "ghosts" is a wildly misleading term for what these guys are actually like. These are less "souls of the deceased" and more SCPs—mysterious and bizarre entities capable of doing anything and everything.

Tsundere: Hifumi, very much so. What else can you say about a guy who jumps out of a five story window just to avoid having to talk to Moka?

Shout-Out: There are a lot of references to the SCP Foundation. It's especially notable in the extra chapters, which are clearly modeled after entries on the SCP Wiki.

Heroic Resolve: During the "Nice Day for a UFO" arc, both Moka and Hifumi have their memories and awareness of their surroundings worn away by the effects of the ghost. Despite not even knowing what they're fighting for, however, both of them have the resolve to push through and continue fighting with everything they have, allowing them to get the better of the ghost.

Ghost Fixers (Manga) / int_d558b013 | comment |
Unperson: The true nature of "Nice Day for a UFO." It initially seems as though it merely makes someone invisible, but in actuality it completely rewrites everyone's perception of reality to erase that person's presence from ever existing. Not only will everyone forget about that person, but any records mentioning that person will either disappear or be rewritten entirely to avoid any mention of that person. Even that person's home will disappear. The only things that seem to be immune to this are the pocket dimensions of several ghosts.
