Tempting Fate | |
Errorverse: Tropes T-Y (Roleplay) / int_15b2cab3 | comment |
Tempting Fate: In the Isolation timeline of Chaotic Evil, one of the guards snarks about how Benjamin isn’t pulling anything on them, despite having literally been brought into their prisons without consent. This bites the guard pretty hard once Whitty, Carol and Sunday bust in and rescue Benjamin from their clutches. When the main guard of Corrupt’s ex-army finally managed to snag Corruption right out of Evo, it seemed like a victory for the former. However, once Corruption awoke from his slumber, he was royally peeved to discover himself stuck in a vacuum cleaner tool, promptly making it suffer from Explosive Overclocking and outwitting said guard. An example happens to Yishu while interacting with Samantha, proclaiming that he thought IRL Finn was going to be the only one to hold the opportunities of the Errorverse. Cue her revealing straight after that IRL Finn is actually her father, and a nervous reaction out of Yishu as a result. In the seventh episode of Casual Stories Season 1, Tardy shuts himself in a closet to protect himself from Greg the Spider and to leave Torol to fend him off alone. However, it turns out Greg was hiding in that exact same closet, leading to even more hilarity as Torol goes to stop the taps downstairs.

Those Two Guys | |
Errorverse: Tropes T-Y (Roleplay) / int_1c79ae8c | comment |
Those Two Guys: In the Area 15 universe, River and Iago have this bond, the former having bought and gotten the latter out of a pet store following Respiro’s wrath, and the latter itching to see River have misfortunes at any turn. Needless to say, they both squabble quite a lot. And fortunately for Iago, only River, Jadie, Genie and the Carters know about his ability to speak fluent English, which catches A51!Alex off-guard when he tries to stop Iago from “dropping bombs” on Tila’s tombstone. Prior to IRL Luis becoming hostile, he had this relationship with Flowey Doug, being the one to dish out insults and mockery at any turn to the ex-villain and annoying him to the point that he gives Tardy the title of his second most-hated individual (ranked by how much someone annoys him, of course). This is dropped after IRL Luis’s hostilities, which make Flowey Doug genuinely hostile to him and hating him for not being the annoying guy he once was.

Villain Song: Pre-redemption, Eggman has his own, based on the one he used in some LEGO Sonic commercials. And this happens to carry on over to Omegaverse Eggman too. MPlayer has one, taking after Jack Horner’s song. As stated by Xei, “it’s super annoying”, so much so that Flowey Doug has to shut MCGamer up before he re-enacts it. Thankfully, the gang have earplugs on them to avoid having to hear the majority of it. Shame any viewers/readers aren’t so lucky, though the song can have its fans.

MCGamer makes use of a LOT of Black Comedy around AE!Luis’s upbringing, which, unsurprisingly, DOES upset the kid, while Benjamin has to personally punish him whenever he does any such talk. It ends up getting to the point where Benjamin outright resents MCGamer/MCS for such cruel jokes.

Trauma Button | |
Errorverse: Tropes T-Y (Roleplay) / int_4e9fe57d | comment |
Trauma Button: Benjamin really does NOT like thinking about the Corruption, especially since it left a very harsh mental impact on him. Thinking about SoniKiller in general is pretty much the biggest trauma button for Nitro, as he left really painful mental scars on the young boy and caused his depression in the first place. Evo became unlucky enough to suffer from TWO of these not too far apart; first being when Seak was about to torment him, leaving him with nightmares for possibly months, and second from an alternate timeline to NAMELESS_EVIL_666.EXE, which leaves the canon Evo with a trauma demon to contend with. He does overcome both of these, though. For Movie Sonic, this is seeing big, dark monsters, due to a nightmare he had pre-NE6.EXE around The Shapeshifter/Shifty. Brian NE really doesn’t like being reminded of his toon form, as it brings some very bad memories to him.

We Used to Be Friends: Wade and Brian_Corrupt, in the former’s earliest part of life, used to be close-knit friends before the disaster, but lost it once Wade fled from home to survive against the virus. Afterwards, Brian_Corrupt began occupying AE!Luis, though became more hostile following the latter’s Pay Evil Unto Evil act. Wade, as a result, loses his trust in Brian_Corrupt following the latter’s nihilistic thought of paying retribution onto AE!Luis. IRL Luis used to have a good relationship with his friends and the Errorverse cast until his selfish addiction to making the perfect series to show the world consumed his time and efforts, causing them to reject him after he refused to want anything to do with them. He got better after he and Yishu became Decomposite Characters, though.

This Is Unforgivable! | |
Errorverse: Tropes T-Y (Roleplay) / int_54cbd0cb | comment |
This Is Unforgivable!: Attempted Peace!Chris refuses to forgive ERR!SoniKiller for the actions he partook in to prove a point, hammering it home that his Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse for capturing and using AP!VA_MC to his advantage. Neo couldn't forgive Error, nor did he have any sympathy for him like he used to. While he did understand why he did it, the fact Error constantly treated him like a criminal and called him a circus freak, parasite and alien right in the face and refused to give him a chance made Neo lose all sympathy for the monster for his cruel attitude and treatment. In an alternate scenario, Reemah and his other friends refuse to associate with BetaBrian after the physical and verbal abuse he caused to Neo and his friends. They do patch things up later once he admits to why he was really angry, though. Karilvatch strongly admits that the treatment Region received during his sentence went too far, which the head guard, Vicky and several of Heljin’s former henchmen unanimously agree on. Said guard even threatens to outright BEHEAD the cruel staff members if even one more bruise is found on Region’s body. Fortunately, Vicky breaks him back out by the end of Chaotic Evil, and to say Brian is not happy about it is a STRONG Understatement. Teak was against the idea of forgiving either Seak OR the scientists for their inhumane actions, but was not planning on assassinating anybody just to get payback for it. Puhoi felt this way about Kyuzi’s actions that turned him into a monster, trying to force everyone else to see the reality of things and Brian’s true past nature in Project: MCGAMEJOLTER.bin. LH!Benjamin and LH!Pico argued against that statement, knowing that Brian was a completely different person by that point.

The third major arc takes place around 2 and a half years after More than One Universe and Christmas Festival. The Epilogue to the “He Who Destroys” arc takes place one year following Project: MCGAMEJOLTER.bin. Shortest of the lot, Samantha’s first major story, and by extension the beginning of the “Next Generation” arc, is only two months following the last arc, despite it being 6 years in the future in our world. "The Reason You Suck" Speech
Errorverse: Tropes T-Y (Roleplay) / int_7d89315b | comment |
"The Reason You Suck" Speech: At the final fight of The Final Showdown, canon Sonic brings a REALLY heavy one onto SoniKiller, exposing him for his Fatal Flaw and how he can’t truly be a good villain with his cowardice. In the alternate timeline of The Lost Games, Tarilvax doesn’t hesitate to call out Error/Brian for his betrayal and his racist acts against Neo and his companions and how it resulted in the virus making sure to prevent him from having a happy ending or his world back despite minding his own business, seeing as he doesn't deserve to have it for being the greedy spoiled brat he's become, with the racial slurs he said to Neo being the last straw. During Welcoming Hope, canon Sonic delivers one to ERR!SoniKiller, making him see that he was Right for the Wrong Reasons and to stop mindlessly destroying failed timelines left and right. This is what later leads to the truce between him and Yishu. Nitro gives one to Seak after laying the majority of his purgatory to waste in Darkest Measures, in front of the spirits of those inhabiting his world, no less. Nitro doesn’t even have any of it when Seak attempts to justify his sickening actions. Following on from this, Lucifer does this to Seak in a similar manner in True Meaning of Fear. Spongebob and Lost Hero!Benjamin deliver a hard one to Puhoi twice, calling him out for his cowardice and rarely ever bothering to actually do the dirty work himself.

Tsundere: Played for laughs concerning Exeller, who tries to claim that he was NOT cute while wearing a Rudolph outfit that one time after Alice playfully calls him that, blaming Exetior for setting him up. Natsuki, as per usual. She does get better over time, though. AE!Lean displays this while hanging out with Colin, expressing annoyance at how nice he is and getting more embarrassed when he takes what Lean thinks are critiques as compliments. IRL Lean, as stated under Suspiciously Specific Denial on the "Tropes J-S" page, relates to the mess that drove MCGamer mad, though switches to vehement denial after Ivan says that MCGamer is lucky to have someone who understands him. He repeats this throughout Corruption of Perfection, even throwing in the classic “Baka” at times. He also does this after MCGamer claims he's insecure. He demonstrates it a little more in Real World Chaos’s second chapter while he and Alt Samantha are trying to reach the Errorverse safely before the latter ceases to exist. While the two smile to each other during a comfort moment, he quickly proclaims “No touchy!” to her (despite her not confessing her feelings yet), and simply quietly mutters to himself after she reassures him that there won’t be any Ship Tease going on here.

At one point in The Cursed Engine, Corrupt tries to force a Sadistic Choice on Benjamin, which would lead to either him or Grace being captured and subject to Cold-Blooded Torture. In response, the blue-haired kid lets out a powerful shout that propels the whole army away. Well, except for one who bails it straight after. Likewise, one of Heljin’s guards who was too arrogant for his own good tried to break Nitro by forcing him to pick between either him or Amelia for eternal torture. Take That!: During Final Confliction, Nitro, Mina and Smol Nitro assume human appearances to blend in with the Japanese civilians. MC 9 questions it a bit, though Mina clarifies that it’s to avoid the wrong kind of attention; both suspicions about their motives and THAT kind of attention. MC 9 clearly didn’t wish to hear more, while Nitro spared MC 10 the details for his safety. In Justice for Toons!, Bugs explains where his and Mickey's funding for Toontopia comes from. Mickey, in particular, had stolen some of Disney's money personally as payback for their shifty business practices in more recent years, such as dragging franchises like Marvel and Star Wars to the ground and acting like live-action's superior to animation. Bugs even mentioned him helping fund for Warner Bros. as his personal middle finger to Disney's acts. Mickey himself touches on this point later, mentioning how he doesn't blame the public at all for their mass criticism of Disney. He mentions his now-backseat role outside the Errorverse, and even how Disney put Bobby Driscoll to shame, even thinking fondly of Oswald the Rabbit during this time. And following that, both Carol AND Lilac openly criticise Disney's limits and stereotypical approach to LGBT characters in their recent media (content like The Owl House notwithstanding), stating that, as an Official Couple in the Errorverse themselves, it's REALLY low of the company to do that. In Real World Chaos’ third chapter, MCStudio discussed his plans for the upcoming Undertale: Melodies Below! animated film, and complained a bit that he needed to use non-Looney Tunes music or remixes of said music, lest he gets hit with a copyright claim on YouTube for it. Even Chara agrees that it’s a big problem and is absolutely annoying for fan creators to deal with.

True Companions: The Literature Club, alongside Benjamin and Grace, are this to a strong level, with each being able to solve problems together effectively, as well as prevent Monika from doing an act to stop the Megaverse’s collapse that would’ve killed her for real. SS!Finn, SS!Rosie and Heayl become a closely-knit team throughout The Lost Games, the formermost even refusing to leave the latter two alone at the hospital and dismissing the Covid-19 pandemic as a bad excuse for doing so. Wade, Etricia, Nat and Clide, all part of a skateboarding gang, all form a strong bond with one another, especially when Luis_PLAYER once took the lead. Even without the lattermost there, the four have stuck together through thick and thin, which is helped by Oliver and Alice Miku successfully reviving Etricia, Nat and Clide. OH!Finn and the friendship group he brings together with help from Kate and Reggie are this, always promising to support each other, give aid to the homeless and provide companionship to those who can’t find any. Evo and Wade become this following Final Confliction, the former resolving to protect the latter from any harm, becoming fiercely protective of the kid because of his Dark and Troubled Past. Nitro, OMT!Tails and OMT!Mina form into this sort of group following their time together in More than One Universe, prompting the formermost to visit them often and leading the latter two to be invaluable aid against Brevon in Wrath of the Warlord. IRL Luis (following the Decomposite Character override) and Alt Samantha become this as they spend more time together, engaging in several creative endeavours together.

You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Once Knuckles vents to the rest of Team Sonic that he’s never good enough in The Final Showdown, Sonic, Tails and Amy are quick to prove him otherwise, rekindling his light as long as SoniKiller has to be stopped. And in the aftermath, Amy reassures Knuckles that all his hard work to protect the Master Emerald always paid off, and that no matter what, he keeps fighting. During the finale of The Lost Games, BetaBrian hears from Neo that the latter feels down about not having the fighting experience to overcome major threats like The Host. Thankfully, BetaBrian reassures him that there’s no shame in lacking that fighting experience. VD!Pikachu shows this to VD!Evo after the latter’s venom issue is resolved. While doubtful that he could be accepted as a person for his green skin, he finds comfort in the fact that he could be portrayed as a miniature version of The Incredible Hulk. Marc brings this up for Nitro, encouraging him to be more comfortable with admitting his depression to the others. AD!Luis tells BC!Nitro this when the latter contemplates isolating himself forever, which allows the latter to reconsider his decision. In turn, BC!Nitro gives this speech to Halsi during the Epilogue of the “He Who Destroys” arc, mentioning that even she couldn’t foreshadow what was going to happen or the consequences that came out of it.

What the Hell, Hero?: After IRL Luis tears down IRL Lean’s birthday party in his madness, Rian (prior to joining the SMGs), Amelia and Chara all call him out on this to no avail. It gets so bad that IRL Finn AND Xenophanes have to step in themselves. This happens again in Errorverse: Prank Wars (Leading to Corruption of Perfection), when the new IRL Lean and IRL Ivan went out to try and prank IRL Luis/MCGamer after pranking their other friends. This eventually led to them realising he was still in his room and went out of their way to try and get them out, and it led to unwanted attention. Except this time, his reason for snapping is out of the pressure from people's expectations unlike the previous IRL Luis.

You Can't Go Home Again | |
Errorverse: Tropes T-Y (Roleplay) / int_da12bcfb | comment |
You Can't Go Home Again: This is how Error_Code/BetaBrian is punished after Neo’s world is fully reset at the end of The Lost Games Season 4, with him unable to ever break back into his old world and being forced to improvise. And this was made permanent after erasing all traces of his existence just so Neo would finally return to his home without suffering from trauma. In the alternate Space Disaster timeline, SD!Enzo and SD!April are left stranded and needing to fend for themselves until they were found and brought to shelter. One variant of Nerila ends up getting locked in the virtual Calteron, no thanks to that game’s developers illegally claiming her intellectual property, even winning a lawsuit with request from Nerila's owner to change her appearance, meaning she can’t return to her version of the Utopian Islands. LG!Nitro is sadly unable to help her out for this reason. On the opposite end of the spectrum, AltBetaBrian, a variation of Brian from one timeline, alongside his version of Joilean_Clone, end up trapped in Neo’s world (the canon one this time), with him and Nerila both feeling disgusted at their games’ companies being at each other’s throats and going to questionable lengths to get what they want. AltBetaBrian does get used to his new life over time, though, thanks to the support of his new friends. Shatterverse Bound!Tails and Shatterverse Bound!Mina end up like this in a split timeline of One More Hero (dubbed Bound to the Shatterverse), getting trapped in the Shatterverse after their attempt to protect the Paradox Prism backfires compared to canon. They did settle into the worlds, though, and made the most of their time there. Formerly downplayed for MC in that he could still come and go from the OMEGA Universe without problems, but following Darkest Measures, he can’t bring himself to go back after the attempted torment inflicted on him by Seak. However, this becomes permanent as he becomes a part of the New Era cast due to his conditions, with that dimension being the safest for his body, meaning he couldn't leave anymore. The ultimate fate of both Puhoi and Kyuzi, both forever stuck in the Omegaverse and unable to return to the Errorverse to patch things up with those they hurt. The real-life Alt Samantha, Ivan and Lean are all forced to relocate to a different iteration of their world following MCGamer’s demise, before she and Lean make it back to the Errorverse themselves. A more voluntary case on Vivienne’s part in New Guest, considering her Dark and Troubled Past made her not want to go back to her home life, instead wishing to stay within the Forever World with Tinsley.

Error_Code looks down on Neo and his companions in such a manner, seeing them as nothing but replacements for the world he once inhabited. So much so that he ends up on the urge of murdering them for good during the near-penultimate episode of The Lost Games, which Joilean_Clone has to stop for him to come to his senses.

Suspiciously Specific Denial
Errorverse: Tropes T-Y (Roleplay) / int_e624f0e8 | comment |

Errorverse: Tropes T-Y (Roleplay) / int_f0508c08 | comment |
IRL Luis used to have a good relationship with his friends and the Errorverse cast until his selfish addiction to making the perfect series to show the world consumed his time and efforts, causing them to reject him after he refused to want anything to do with them. He got better after he and Yishu became Decomposite Characters, though.

Would Hit a Girl: Played heavily for Rian, seeing as, to him, it doesn't matter what gender a person is; if they're a threat, an enemy or an annoyance, he will not hesitate to throw hands.

A more voluntary case on Vivienne’s part in New Guest, considering her Dark and Troubled Past made her not want to go back to her home life, instead wishing to stay within the Forever World with Tinsley.
