It first aired on July 1, 2023, following a highly-publicised feud between the comic trio Tito, Vic and Joey (and their roster of co-hosts) and their erstwhile employers TAPE, Inc., where TVJ and the "Legit Dabarkads" resigned en masse from Eat Bulaga! and started their own show on TV5, taking the time slot previously occupied by rival noontime show It's Showtime (who would then move to GMA Network-owned GTV).As with TVJ's previous show, E.A.T. is hosted by mainstays referred to as the "Legit Dabarkads"note A corruption of the Tagalog term "barkada", meaning a band of friends. and consists of various game and talent show segments along with live performances from the hosts and/or guest acts, most of them being slightly altered variations of previous Bulaga segments.On December 6, 2023, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) ruled in favor of TVJ's camp over the ownership of the Eat Bulaga! brand, effectively legitimizing TVJ's claim over the Bulaga trademarks. Needless to say, there was much rejoicing from loyal fans of the show, with the Legit Dabarkads singing the original lyrics to the Eat Bulaga! theme song in celebration.
