Spoilers for all Power Rangers entries preceding this one, including Power Rangers Dino Fury and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always will be left unmarked. You Have Been Warned!Power Rangers Cosmic Fury is the 30th season of the long-running Power Rangers franchise, first announced in August 2022 and premiered on September 29th, 2023. It uses the zords and footage from Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, while everything else (including the rangers' costumes) will be original footage.Following the final fight against the Void Queen and the Sporix, things had calmed down as humanity joined the Rafkon people in living in peace on Earth. However, Zayto, having previously sacrificed himself to stop the Sporix threat, was resurrected with a brand new mission: Lord Zedd, previously resurrected and trapped in crystal, had broken free. However, what they have isn't enough. To defeat Zedd and stop the threat he represents, the Rangers must hunt down brand new powers and a new fleet of Zords and they'll be doing that with the aid of a veteran Ranger...This season sees the return of the entire main cast of Dino Fury, the first time a cast returned for a third season since Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Season 3. The cast will be joined by David Yost, reprising his role as Billy Cranston/Mighty Morphin' Blue Ranger, straight from his appearance in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always. This is the last season produced in New Zealand as Hasbro plans on moving production to a new location. This season is the last to be set in the original continuity, with Jonathan Entwistle’s upcoming series acting as a hard reboot.Check out the announcement trailer, a panel with the cast and crew, official plot summary, suit reveal, and announcement of David Yost's return along with the theme song and intro.

The Worf Effect: While the current team is in space, Zedd launches a massive invasion of Earth. According to the news reports we see from Jane and J-Borg, every single other Ranger on the planet has been captured and jailed. Once the Cosmic Rangers return and disable the anti-Zord force field, the Great Offscreen War takes a turn for the better.

Breaking Old Trends | |
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury / int_311500f5 | comment |
Breaking Old Trends: This is the first time a group of Rangers have been around for more than two seasons since Mighty Morphin. As shown in this promotional video it's also the first time a Ranger's color on the team has changed since the shift from Power Rangers Turbo to Power Rangers in Space, with Zayto becoming the Zenith Ranger and Amelia becoming the Red Ranger. The entire team uses American-made costumes. The only other time an original suit has been made for a main Power Ranger was the Titanium Ranger suit in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue (since Titanium was a Canon Foreigner). This is the first season to have a female Red protagonist as one of the regular Rangers.note While Amelia is not the first female Red overall, both Charlie and Lauren only appeared near the end of their seasons. Amelia is the first dinosaur themed red ranger to not be based on a T. rex and Zayto is the first T. rex themed ranger to not be red. The intro is the first since RPM to not have "Go Go Power Rangers!" in its chorus. Cosmic Fury will have the first Ranger team to have a queer Battle Couple. The first series to have three female Power Rangers in one team. First season to be only ten episodes, instead of the customary 20-22 episodes for seasons after RPM. (Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers was also ten episodes, but it was explicitly a miniseries bridging Mighty Morphin' and Zeo, not a full season in itself.) First time Gold has been used as a color of the initial core team, rather than being exclusive to the Sixth Ranger. Following from that, it's also the first season since Jungle Fury to not use Gold or Silver for the Sixth Rangers' color. Instead, the additional team member is instead colored orange, making them the first official, non one-off Orange Ranger who is actually a proper part of the team in the series.note Outside of some examples in the BOOM! Studios comics This is the first time since Power Rangers RPM that a team included more than six Rangers with the addition of Billy as the original Blue Ranger. While this show has a long history of Brainwashed and Crazy Rangers, this is the first time the mind control victim stays evil for nearly the entire season.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury / int_3297cfbb | comment |
Evolving Credits: The opening has different alterations after Episode 1. This includes switching the Dino Fury suits to the Cosmic Fury ones, Amelia and Zayto trading places, Amelia being the Red Cosmic Fury Ranger, Zayto being the Zenith Ranger, Javi having a prosthetic arm, and Fern being the Orange Cosmic Fury Ranger. The last change is Ollie, after spending the first nine episodes sporting a stoic expression (which signified his corruption), smiling again in the finale, signifying his return to good in the previous episode.

Nothing past the first 11 Kyuranger Zords appear here either, meaning Gigant Houou, Orion Battler, Kojishi Voyager and Cerberus Voyager are all absent. The Kyuranger team included not only Red, Green, Black, Blue, Orange and Gold Rangers but also Silver, Skyblue, Pink, Violet and Yellow Rangers, who are absent here. Although Aiyon uses the Yellow Kyuranger's mecha while having the same color motif as the Gold Kyuranger.

Bittersweet Ending: Zayto ends up Ascending to a Higher Plane of Existence at the end of the season as a Morphin Master, but unfortunately this means he can watch his friends from afar but never be with them again. Still, Zayto saved them all from certain destruction, and from there, the team saved the universe, strengthened their bonds, and even gave Lord Zedd a chance to redeem himself. And if any indication can be gained with Billy learning Zordon is possibly alive in the finale (reigniting the hope he lost from the incident he had in Once & Always), the Cosmic Fury Rangers will soon find themselves on another adventure together.

Speaking of space operas, much of the action takes place on Erridus, a desert planet populated by dangerous worm monsters. Sound familiar? Omwhyzo, a crow-themed monster, vaguely resembles Tommy Wiseau and shares his famously indecipherable accent. In "Switching Sides", Mucus mentions thinking about fish with human feet. Talking the Monster to Death: How the Cosmic Fury Rangers and Morphin Master Zayto manage to convince the empowered Master Zedd to give up his powers after he gets trapped in a container that's about to explode. While Zedd is initially unwilling to even conceive of giving up his power, Zayto and Ollie correctly points out that if he doesn't do so, then once the container erupts, it will release a reverse Z-Wave that wipes out everyone good...and including Zedd. Nobody will win, and the entire universe will be plunged into chaos. Ollie even goes so far as to invoke the lesson that Zedd taught him while brainwashed, about how there is "no peace for the strongest, only survival", and that him having all the power in the world means nothing if he's dead. Zedd only finally relents near the end when the container is nearly broken.

Pet the Dog: Zedd is particularly calm with Ollie, offering him advice and mentoring him in an evil way. He rarely raises his voice with him, and even keeps a neutral yet touché-like attitude when Ollie uses his own teachings against him to save the universe. Downplayed in the first episode for Zedd. He compliments Doodrip for his work in turning Ollie evil, but still fires him, and later lets him do as he pleases when going off to destroy the Rangers, knowing he can still stay at the top of his game no matter what will happen.
