Mythology Gag: PS135's colorscheme in his true form is taken from one of the various palettes Mario can end up with after performing the powerup incrementation glitch in Super Mario World. The appearances and voices of Soul Peach and Yoshi are based on their designs from the Super Mario World cartoon. Luigi is a mashup of Super Mario World and his normal appearance, with his red and white striped socks taken from the Mario & Luigi games. Soul Luigi's sections in "MARIO IS MISSING V2" lift some soundfonts from Luigi's Mansion. Most notably, some of his segments have him whistling instead of singing, using the same soundfont from the aforementioned game. At the beginning of "MARIO IS MISSING" and "CONSOLE WAR", Luigi's version of the scream Tails makes is him yelling HEEELP! from "Mama Luigi", the final episode of the Super Mario World cartoon. "Disk Driven" contains multiple samples from Super Mario 64, such as the camera turning and failing to turn sound effects, the sound of an enemy exploding, and a few voice grunts from Mario. In addition, the location of the song is set in the hallway leading to Dire, Dire Docks and the second Bowser fight. Rather than reuse the normal Friday Night Funkin' countdown as in "Endless", "Disk Driven" instead uses the countdown from Super Smash Bros. 64. In "MAR10 Day", Mariotinet is wearing a Wario costume, referencing Mario's Wario alt he has in all the Super Smash Bros. games aside from Ultimate. Sitting on the couch during "Insert" is Antrollia, a character from a mod Misfire previously composed for. "Shortstack" takes place in Shy Guy's Toy Box, the main location of Paper Mario's fourth chapter and where most of the game's Shy Guy variants are located. Watt's appearance in the song is a reference to her joining the party in this chapter. "BF's Funklamity" is based off the Mario's Castle Calamity animations, having Boyfriend take the role of the one trying to blow up the castle and getting subjected to different highjinks in the process. Several gags from the animations are referenced in the song as well. During the quick back and forth in the beginning of "Free-for-All", the camera zooms in on Emperor M's and MX's faces during their turns, referencing Misfire's remix of "Game Over" with Madeline in Boyfriend's place. The song itself also features a remixed part of Game Over's main melody in some parts. "Nakisakebu" is one as a whole to Yoshi.EXE, taking place in a deranged castle where a tormented Baby Mario and a now-dead Yoshi reside. The premise of another Yoshi (in this case, Pico) investigating the site soon after is in reference to the game's fanmade remaster. The midpoint of "Unstoppable Force" cuts to a screen showing various images pertaining to Cornered displayed in a messy, nonsensical manner, referencing the common thumbnail style of "Manual Blast"'s composer. Some images from said composer's thumbnails also show up in the image, to feed into the reference more. | |
