In July 1998 a week of horror is heralded by a secret laboratory located deep beneath the Spencer Mansion undergoing a containment breach; Umbrella's questionable experiments have broken loose killing a majority of the staff, and begun to spread outward into the deep woods located on the Arklay Mountains, threatening the safety of the nearby Raccoon City. Desperate to keep Umbrella's nightmarish actions secret, Umbrella's Board of Directors has authorized a squad of elite U.S.S commandos to perform a cleanup operation with two simple objectives; destroy all evidence of Umbrella's wrongdoings and silence any surviving Umbrella employees. You fill the shoes of that squad. The player takes the role of veteran U.S.S Captain HUNK and rookie infantryman GHOST.Resident Evil: Containment is a Total Conversion Mod of Resident Evil 1, by Aydan; featuring the exploits of an Umbrella Security Service Squad during the height of Mansion Incident. It includes massive changes to the environments of the Spencer Estate, enhanced mechanics, new monsters, new weapons, new puzzles, and a completely original story. The game is complete, with Prologue, Chapter 1, 2, 3 and 4. available to play.

Mythology Gag: Ghost's pose in the title screen is more than reminiscent of Chris's pose in the original game's American box art. Speaking of which, Ghost special "injured" model at the start of Chapter 3 is piece for piece a recreation of his appearance in his debut Ghost Survivors mission for Remake 2; complete with tears in his uniform, and his iconic Broken Faceplate.

Darkness Equals Death: The lights are out in the Spencer Mansion, forcing Ghost to be extra cautious. It's much harder for the player to see zombies coming and they only make noise when alerted to the player's presence. He can't even go far into the main hall due to being even darker than the rest of the mansion.

Resident Evil Containment (Video Game) / int_6838a3ec | comment |
Elite Mook: The infamous Crimson Heads; more or less "stage 2" infected whose prolonged infection to the T-Virus has made them far stronger then a regular zombie; they can sprint across the room in a second (the player is barely able to outrun them in a full sprint, lunge at the player with dangerous leaps, and hit far stronger and faster then a normal zombie. Due to engine limitations, however, thankfully they do not retain their original Remake's ability to spawn from normal, dead zombies. The Ivy Zombies are alot more dangerous then the usual Zombie, retaining their counterparts ability in the Remake to deliver a One-Hit Kill if you let them grab you.

Boss in Mook's Clothing: The horrifying Crimson Head Elders, who are encountered at the end of the first chapter in the "bloody prison" section of the underground, are similar in appearance to the regular Crimson Heads (they have a different texture), but are stronger, faster, and have more health. You fight them as a Duel Boss.

Action Prologue: The "prologue" grants the player an assault rifle with infinite ammunition and much more zombies then the actual game during the initial assault on the labs; both of these factors are taken away as soon as the mod proper begins.

Canon Immigrant: Many from the Remakes. Ghost, the main player character, despite the mod taking place in the original trilogy continuity, is straight from Resident Evil 2 (Remake). The Crimson Heads, which have ever been only featured in Remake 1, are the terrifying Elite Mooks of the early game. HUNK's warmer characterisation is from Remake 2. Trent from the novels shows up in Episode 3 to heal Ghost's injuries and give him the keycard to the Guardhouse. The Ivy Zombies from Resident Evil 2 (Remake) start showing up in the later half of Episode 3 to haunt Ghost in the Guardhouse.
