Boring, but Practical: Unlike previous Battle Royales where the winner usually possesses powerful offensive capabilities, note Ditto could emulate any Pokémon it wishes and do whatever was needed for its survival, Ultra Necrozma is practically an Eldritch Abomination and Arceus is a Physical God, Riolu is a baby Pokémon whose entry still emphasizes its strength and stamina, and Mega Rayquaza is acknowledged as being unmatched by even other Megas working together Lapras wins by virtue of being a nonaggressive Stone Wall that avoids direct confrontation and has numerous defensive measures to keep themself safe from what attacks do come their way. Thus, in the final confrontation with Urshifu R, they're functionally fresh whereas Urshifu is running on empty after beating multiple other Pokémon. This allows Lapras to surprise Urshifu with an inescapable ice age at the last moment. |

The Unfought: Eternamax Eternatus, despite being in the video's thumbnail, isn't really shown picking a fight with any Gigantamaxed 'mon, only getting rid of non-Gigantamax ones before bolting out with a "lol cya" in the subtitles. Justified, since it's technically not a Gigantamax and would probably effortlessly destroy both all competitors and any tension in the video. |

Lotus-Eater Machine: Gengar's modus operandi is to lure its victims towards its gaping mouth by projecting voices of their loved ones calling out to them, lampshading the trope as common in ghost stories. It works on Charizard because of its Character Shilling status, then Eevee because of its adorable and friendly disposition. Unfortunately for Gengar, it doesn't work on Garbodor, who has no loved ones and thus is willingly throwing itself into Gengar's mouth. |

Vomit Indiscretion Shot: The most Urshifu R's initial flurry of punches does to Snorlax is making the latter puke, only for Snorlax to eat it back (treated as G-Max Replenish), much to Urshifu's disgust. |

Throw the Dog a Bone: Even while acknowledging that Gigantamax Pikachu is just big and fat, this marks the first battle royale where Pikachu actively gets to do something. Granted that only amounts to hitting Grimmsnarl with its tail, but that is still a better showing than dying immediately in the first two battle royales or Pichu knocking itself out in the baby battle royale. |

Take That!: Tyranitar, Golurk, and Dragonite are mocked and unceremoniously obliterated by Eternatus, which Lockstin's analysis reveals was a jab at Game Freak for not having given them Gigantamax forms. Charizard's Character Shilling status, both by the creators of Pokémon and by the fans, gets used against it by having Gengar lure Charizard into its mouth with encouraging words. In his breakdown of the video, Lockstin also sounded surprised that Charizard placed third in the tier list of which Gigantamax Pokémon would win. |

Shout-Out: The countdown at the beginning of the video is the same as the one in the intro to Super Smash Bros. 64, with Eternatus taking the place of Master Hand. Eternatus greets Tyranitar, Golurk, and Dragonite with a Finger Wag while saying "Ah-ah-aah... you didn't say the magic word." When Drednaw sinks Blastoise and the Squirtle crew jumps overboard, the Fun with Subtitles quotes Céline Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic. Drednaw acts as a stand-in for Gamera, with it having his signature roar and being a giant turtle monster. Rillaboom tries to block off Drednaw's mouth with a tree like what King Kong did to Godzilla in King Kong vs. Godzilla, and the two facing against Duraludon makes direct reference to Godzilla vs. Kong, with Duraludon acting as a stand-in for Mechagodzilla. Charizard's entering Gengar's portal is a direct reference to the Adiós Wormhole meme. Coalossal uses voice lines from The Heavy for its dialogue. Meanwhile, Gengar uses voice clips from Wario. The scene of Flapple and Appletun Vs. Melmetal is based on Eva Unit-01 and 02 fighting against Israfel. Grimmsnarl's Drill Kick closely resembles Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann's Giga Drill Break. Urshifu S kills Kingler in "ONE PUUUUNNNCCCCHHH!" Machamp sounds exactly like and essentially has the role of Ultraman. The Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs that Urshifu used to take Machamp down are accompanied by a howling wolf sound, a reference to the Wolf Fang Fist. In other words, Machamp got Yamcha'd. Urshifu R's shouts of "You Fool!" are taken from an infamous episode of The Hollywood Squares featuring Gilbert Gottfried. Related to the above, the set-up for Urshifu R's G-Max Rapid Flow references Saitama's first use of Consecutive Normal Punches against Beast King. Lapras' Pre-Mortem One-Liner to Urshifu R is "What killed the dinosaurs? THE ICE AGE!" The post-credits scene has Mega Mawile, Mega Banette, and Mega Kangaskan's baby end up in a room full of TV screens showing alternate versions of themselves straight out of The Matrix Reloaded, with Mega Alakazam playing the role of the Architect. |

Useless Without Powers: Due to their actual bodies not getting much bigger, all three of the Galar starters and Alcremie end up losing after their supersized main items are destroyed. Alcremie's cake-like lower body gets destroyed by Cinderace's Pyro Ball due to the fact that cream can melt and cakes can burn, leaving her trying to scoop up whatever is left of her before being eaten by the rolling Snorlax. Cinderace's Pyro Ball falls into the ocean after taking down Corviknight, leaving it defenseless when Copperajah starts rolling Snorlax around, leading to Cinderace being squished. Rillaboom's drum set gets flattened by a falling Duraludon, making it sulk before being headshot by Inteleon. Inteleon's tail gets cut in half by Kingler, making the whole tail tower come crashing down and explode. |

Victory by Endurance: Lapras is declared the victor of the battle royale mainly due to how tanky they are, thanks to a combination of Lapras' Stone Wall status in general, the standard Dynamax mechanisms like Max Guard and it being able to set up Aurora Veil when they feel like it. Urshifu is pretty much the only Pokémon who can bypass Lapras' defenses thanks to G-Max One Blow and G-Max Rapid Flow, though that's still not enough to make it the overall victor in the video. |
