Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?
Super Jeenius (Lets Play) / int_5beef860 | comment |
Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Well, for Insects instead of snakes: Resident Evil 4 got a lot less fun for him at Episode 16. More specifically he really doesn't like spiders, which comes up in his Resident Evil 5 co-op with ProtonJon. It's practically becoming a running gag in the RE 5 LP that whenever Jon starts to give warning about a new enemy type being introduced ("One of your favorite enemies from Resident Evil 4," "A traditional Resident Evil enemy," etc.), Jake pretty much always thinks it's spiders, even after they've already encountered them. It's so extreme that he turns the camera away from the spiders in Final Fantasy XIV.

Forgot About His Powers
Super Jeenius (Lets Play) / int_650a309b | comment |
Forgot About His Powers: In his P3 FES Let's Play, he complains that one of the Guardian bosses in Tartarus would be so much easier if he had access to a party healing spell. Several parts earlier he showed off Cadenza, a fusion spell that heals the whole party. Not once in his many attempts to defeat the boss does he remember this, which is most likely understandable considering the requirements may be more trouble than it's worth. Happens again in episode 15 of the Crash 3 Let's Play, where he goes through all sorts of hell trying to get the gems in Future Frenzy. Just about all of the parts he failed at would have been no problem at all had he remembered that defeating N. Gin gave him a bazooka that he could have used to blast away the problem enemies instead of attempting to spin or evade them and getting killed in the process. He recognizes this in the next episode when reaching a part that actually forces him to use it.

Catchphrase | |
Super Jeenius (Lets Play) / int_b01abe4f | comment |
Catchphrase: Several. "It is what it is". "Holy... crow!" "I can't even spell 'jeenius' right." "How sad, bad dad." (Created with JoshJepson in between episodes of DK Country Returns) "Ow! My most-of-me!" (when he gets hit) "'I see' said the blind man, as he pulled out his X and Y" note (An Orphaned Punchline reference to the old bit of wordplay "'I see', said the blind man, as he pulled out his hammer and saw"). "He chose poorly". "This is danger-town, danger-zone, danger-danger-danger!" "BOOM BANNED" whenever he bans a spammer or bot. There are a few both he and JoshJepson use in their Donkey Kong Country Returns co-op, such as "Props where credit is due", "I sacrificed my body" (when one of them grabs a collectible and dies in the process), "NOPE--Chuck Testa", "True-ché", "My body is/isn't ready" and "X for DAAAAYS". Some of these reappear in Rayman Origins, along with others such as "Balls on chair--now I'm ready for some things", one of them referring to 'lumms' and the other correcting the pronunciation to 'looms', and mispronouncing the word 'Origins' in the title in different ways.

Epic Fail: In episode 17 of his Blind LP of Final Fantasy VI, Jake equips the newly-recruited Celes with full relics and decent equipment... except for a weapon. He continually goes back to the equipment screen for other reasons, but never notices Celes has no weapon. This is even present when he receives a "Thunder Rod" and thinks its a weapon. He goes to Celes's weapon slot to equip it. His cursor hovers right over the RegalCutlass, highlighting statistical increases in yellow, and he exits the menu, still leaving her weaponless! He subsequently gets Curb Stomped by the tunnel armor boss. In the opening to the next video, Jake himself notes how dumb a move this was.

Just about all of the parts he failed at would have been no problem at all had he remembered that defeating N. Running Gag: Him completely ignoring Kanji's Social Link, so much that there's always someone bringing that fact up in every video of this LP. And when he started his Social Link with Kanji, he later calls Kanji "Kanju" instead due to a typo in the game. Another one for Persona 4 Golden: Consistently not having enough courage (or rather, interior crocodile masculinity) to pick a dialogue option despite wanting to, with only a different stat popping up once or twice. In Dangan Ronpa, Jake's thumb keeps slipping and touching the touch screen, causing him to accidentally skip text. Also in Dangan Ronpa, Jake making the thumbnails show Hiro. This inexplicably happened in Chapter 3 when all his thumbnails coincidentally showed either Hiro or Sakura, and he started rolling with it since. As of June 15, 2017, there have been 37 videos where the thumbnails are in-game screenshots. 20 of them (more than half) are of Hiro.
