We all have a compulsion to do something. Whether it be lying, setting things up in a specific manner or, most commonly, a way of speaking. A variation of the third party is that there are people who have some kind of need to spell their name.
Yes, you heard right, some individuals in media are shown to repeatedly spell their name. In most situations, it's completely random and unsolicited to the person they are spelling it to, which can get annoying for them, especially if the one who CSTM has a long name that they spell slowly. Though in other situations, they spell it after having been asked to do so. In most forms of media, this is used for comedic effect in order to get the audience laughing.
Anyone who does this may have a reason for spelling their name though. They might only spell their name to avoid confusion with another way of how to spell it (sort of a Sub-Trope for Spelling for Emphasis). Whatever the case, a character will spell their name if they see it as fit.

One of Jeff Jarrett's Character Catchphrases (primarily during his first run in the WWF) was introducing himself by saying "That's J, E, double F, J, A, double R, E , double T... I'm double J, Jeff Jarrett!"

Baantjer: De Cock always spells out his name when first introducing himself to somebody, to avoid that they will spell it as "kok" ("cook" in English), which is the more common spelling for this word in Dutch.

Tigger from Winnie the Pooh does this to nearly everyone he bounces on, though he spells his name in his own odd way. He even provides the page quote.

A variation happens in the Family Guy episode "Peter's Two Dads", where a cutaway showed Peter be held up in line at the airport by (now deceased) actor Robert Loggia, who spells his name to the clerk when asked and proceeds to spell it in sentences where he gets noticed.
