We all have a compulsion to do something. Whether it be lying, setting things up in a specific manner or, most commonly, a way of speaking. A variation of the third party is that there are people who have some kind of need to spell their name. Yes, you heard right, some individuals in media are shown to repeatedly spell their name. In most situations, it's completely random and unsolicited to the person they are spelling it to, which can get annoying for them, especially if the one who CSTM has a long name that they spell slowly. Though in other situations, they spell it after having been asked to do so. In most forms of media, this is used for comedic effect in order to get the audience laughing. Anyone who does this may have a reason for spelling their name though. They might only spell their name to avoid confusion with another way of how to spell it (sort of a Sub-Trope for Spelling for Emphasis). Whatever the case, a character will spell their name if they see it as fit. |
