When Crossovers happen, part of the fun is getting to see characters from each respective universe slug it out, pitting their strengths, cunning, and powers against each other. But what happens when a character from one universe gains powers from another? Well, that's what you call a Crossover Power Acquisition. A Crossover Power Acquisition is when a character involved in a crossover gains a power that doesn't exist in the franchise they originate in but DOES exist in the franchise they crossover with. A Sub-Trope of Power Creep, Power Seep. Compare Crossover Combo Villain, wherein two villains from different franchises are combined into one. See also All Your Powers Combined. |

Intercession: After working at it for years, Taylor's shard manages to get a handle on using magic. It gives Taylor a severe headache, though, until she gets a matched wand to ease the process. On the other hand, the shard allows her to use magic even in situations where a regular witch would be helpless.

DEATH BATTLE!: "Ben 10 VS Green Lantern": Boomstick somehow manages to acquire an Omnitrix, and immediately begins cycling through the different aliens. As he does so, Wiz explains to the audience how overusing the Omnitrix can risk permanently disfiguring the user's DNA. We then see Boomstick has become an amalgamation of the aliens in the Omnitrix and leaves to pee out his face. "DIO VS Alucard": When Wiz is talking about how Dio gained a Stand after being struck by a holy arrow, we see Boomstick prick himself with said holy arrow, and gain a Stand that looks like a floating can of beer with a moustache and hat, which he calls "99 Bottles". The Stand has the power to zap people and turn them into giant cans of beer. |

Marvel vs. Capcom: A long-standing tradition going all the way back to Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, where the final boss was an Apocalypse-enhanced Akuma. Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter: Aside from the aforementioned Cyber Akuma, Dan also appears in a form modified by Apocalypse in Akuma's own ending (though it's obviously a joke ending, as Apocalypse would never waste his time on someone like Dan), and M. Bison uses the tech in Cyber Akuma's body to modify Charlie further. Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Ryu gains the power of the Iron Fist, Tron Bonne gets a Sentinel to ride on instead of a Servbot, Vergil acquires the Muramasa blade, Nemesis is altered by Weapon X with metallic claws and skin, several Mega Man characters get recruited into the Nova corps, and Wesker infects several of the Marvel super heroes with his Uroboros virus. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite: All the characters, Marvel or Capcom, are able to use the Infinity Stones, and Ultron and Sigma merge together to form Ultron Sigma. And Thanos steals Ryu's Satsui no Hadou using tech from Mega Man X's world. |

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe: Downplayed with Sonya Blade's arcade ending. She acquires a Green Lantern ring but has no means to charge it or contact the rest of the Green Lantern Corps. In Catwoman's ending, she ends up gaining an Animality that turns her into a big panther. Captain Marvel is empowered by the Elder Gods in his own ending in a similar way to how he got his original powers. In Liu Kang's ending, Raiden made him the Captain Marvel of Earthrealm after figuring out the Rock of Eternity's secrets, bestowing him with his power alongside Fujin's and Argus's. Liu Kang's transformation phase is "MORTAL KOMBAT!" |

The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Max Dillon's transformation into Electro turned him into a glowing blue Humanoid Abomination. When he arrives on Earth-199999 in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the difference in his world's energy and the MCU's energy has a physiological effect on him. First he regains his human form (albeit more conventionally handsome than before), becomes less mentally unstable (though still power hungry) and changes his electricity's color from blue to yellow. When he grabs the Arc-Reactor used to power Peter's 3D printer, it gives him a massive power boost.

Dungeon Keeper Ami: When Sailor Mercury becomes a Keeper, she gains access to a power set that is enough by itself to let Keepers become nation-level threats, giving her the ability to sense and influence everything in her territory. It also turns out to synergize quite well with her native senshi abilities (eg being a senshi means she regains magic much faster, and being able to possess minions allows her to grant Cathy access to her senshi transformation, for Super-Strength and Super-Toughness). If she could just get back to Earth, she would be in a much better position to defeat the Dark Kingdom...but there's a long road ahead, to regain her soul, before that's possible.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: It's revealed that the spider that gave Miles his powers in the first film originated from a different universe, having been brought to Earth-1610B from Earth-42 by one of the scientists that helped build the super-collider (revealed to be the sequel's villain the Spot). This results in the creation of a Spider-Man who (by the deterministic multiversal rules the Spider-Society operates on) is a Cosmic Flaw that endangers the multiverse just by existing, while Earth-42 went to hell without a Spider-Man of its own protect it.

Super Mario Bros. Z: Episode 4 has the Koopa Bros. accidentally channel the power of a Chaos Emerald into their Combination Attack, causing it to blaze with energy and power up enough to knock out all the heroes at once. Episode 6 has the rebuilt Axem Rangers connect a Chaos Emerald to their Breaker Beam, making it powerful enough to destroy a mountain. Later in the episode, Sonic is able to briefly access his Super Sonic form by absorbing a Super Star. Episode 8 introduces Captain Basilisx, a high-ranking Koopatrol who was given tremendous power and stone-gaze ability thanks to the serum made by Dr. Eggman. The same episode features Sonic using a Fire Flower, causing him to transform into a powerful red "Fire Sonic" form with blazing speed and the ability to imbue his melee attacks with flames. The planned final arc of the series would have had both the Mario and Sonic casts receiving Sonic-style Golden Super Modes through the power of the Seven Star Spirits from Paper Mario. |

Super Robot Wars DD features "Crossing Pilot" events where a character from one series gets to operate a Humongous Mecha from another: The first event has Mobile Suit Gundam protagonist Amuro (whose own machine is in need of repair) hop into the cockpit of Mazinger Z after Kouji is injured. Being a relatively stoic Real Robot pilot, Amuro does not yell the names of Mazinger's attacks as he uses them like Kouji does. The second event has Zero from Code Geass get his hands on a replica of the Wing Gundam Zero (referred to as "Wing Gundam Zero Rebellion"), which has a black-and-gold colour scheme typical of Zero's personal units. The third event has Masaki pilot the Bilbine while retaining his own Cybuster's sword - a weapon which looks ridiculously oversized in the smaller unit's hands. This is a Mythology Gag referencing how Masaki and the Cybuster were originally created as stand-ins when Super Robot Wars 2 was unable to secure the rights to Aura Battler Dunbine. The fourth event has the squad from Full Metal Panic! pilot Voltes V. The fifth event is a Back Story episode for Eiji of Blue Comet SPT Layzner, showing that he once piloted a Scopedog from Armored Trooper VOTOMS (a series by the same writer) with a custom blue paintjob. |

Super Robot Wars Super Robot Wars F Final: In this continuity, rather than being separate machines, Getter Robo G evolves into the larger and more powerful Shin Getter Robo through an intense surge of Getter Rays. However, Mazinger Z is also caught in this surge and experiences the same Evolution Powerup, creating a game-original Mid-Season Upgrade named Mazinkaiser. The next appearance of Mazinkaiser would instead place it as a Super Prototype of Mazinger Z, with this backstory carrying over into its Canon Immigrant spinoffs. JLA/Avengers: Superman is the only hero left standing in the final battle against Krona. Thor throws Mjolnir to Superman, who wields it along with Captain America's shield. At the end of the book, however, Superman can't lift it again, with Thor revealing that Odin can lift the enchantment for a short time in particularly desperate situations. A two-way example happened when Monica Rambeau (then known as "Blacklight") absorbed power from a Green Lantern ring, and Kyle Rayner (then in his "Ion" phase) absorb power from the Cosmic Cube. Scarlet Witch is much more powerful in the DC Universe due to her being able to tap into the wilder and more powerful chaos magic in that universe. Inverted with Wally West. He loses his super speed in the Marvel Universe because there is no Speed Force there. When in the DC Universe Iron Man/Tony Stark gets a Mother Box upgrading his Armor and granting him the ability to travel between the two Universes. Subverted with Quicksilver, he wants to connect with the Speed Force, but it never happens. Subverted with Darkseid. When the Infinity Gauntlet winds up on Apokolips and in his hands the heroes are understandably terrified at the prospect of him wielding such power. Fortunately, it is soon revealed that the gauntlet only works in its home universe. |

This means, for example, Mario characters can get a temporary speed boost through power sneakers, and Sonic characters can launch shells at the other players. Downplayed in the Dream Figure Skating events. The Sonic-themed performance has the Chaos Emeralds being collected in the first two acts and used in the final act. While this does mean Mario characters can use them, it's part of a staged performance, so there isn't a legitimate Super Mode activated by them. The Sochi sequel would play it more straight, with all characters (including Mario characters) using the power of the Wisps to perform a Final Color Blaster. |

Kamen Rider: Kamen Rider Decade and Kamen Rider Zi-O are both Crisis Crossovers, which feature their heroes acquiring the powers of Riders from the rest of the franchise. (Note that while Kamen Rider Revice may look like it's in this group as well, that show doesn't actually cross over and it only makes visual and stylistic references to other Riders; not Power Copying.) The movie celebrating the 40th anniversary of the franchise, Let's Go Kamen Riders, features the then-current Kamen Rider OOO, the original series, and breakout favorite Kamen Rider Den-O. OOO acquires Medals based on the other two series, which he uses with one of his own to gain a temporary Super Mode. Kamen Rider Gaim had several tie-in movies that involved other Riders, and in many of them, Gaim and sometimes his friends would receive temporary new forms based on those Riders. In the crossover with Kamen Rider Drive, Drive returned the favor and used his own form based on Gaim. Kamen Rider Ghost and Kamen Rider Ex-Aid similarly got forms based on each other in Kamen Rider Heisei Generations. Kamen Rider Saber had a tie-in with Kamen Rider Ghost, where Saber and Blades got to use the powers of Ghost and Specter. In Movie Battle Royale, Revi and Vice meet Kamen Rider Geats and borrow the mass-produced Desire Driver transformation belts used in the latter's series. They get to keep the helmets of their original Rider forms (as all Desire Riders have unique personal helmets), but otherwise it's a complete switch to the Desire suits and powerset. Kamen Rider Outsiders is a Massive Multiplayer Crossover between multiple series, with the villain Zein combining technology from Kamen Rider Zero-One with Cards of Power from Kamen Rider Decade (and all of the Power Copying that comes with the latter). A web special had Tycoon from Kamen Rider Geats meet Shinobi from Kamen Rider Zi-O, giving Tycoon a new form modeled on Shinobi. Geats again — his summer movie hosted an Early-Bird Cameo from Kamen Rider Gotchard, and the Transformation Trinket for his special movie Super Mode included a card reader for use with Gotchard's Cards of Power. |

Ensign Sue Must Die: The Mary Sues tend to have different powers depending on which fictional universe (i.e. Harry Potter, Star Trek, X-Men) they reside in, as well as New Powers as the Plot Demands. Wolverine is actually revealed to be a Brainwashed and Crazy male Sue here, with all the Reality Warper powers that entails... at least until Sue Prime is defeated and he goes back to his normal canon characterization.

Ultra Series:note Even moreso than the Toei shows, the Ultra Series makes heavy use of Power Copying prior Ultramen; so again, to keep the list concise examples have to involve an actual crossover to qualify. In Ultra Zero Fight, Ultraman Zero finds that, as an aftereffect of his Fusion Dance with Ultraman Dyna and Ultraman Cosmos in the film Ultraman Saga, he has gained their form-changing abilities and can switch to being a Mighty Glacier or Squishy Wizard as they can. In Ultraman X The Movie: Here Comes! Our Ultraman!, Ultraman X meets the original Ultraman and Ultraman Tiga and gains an enhancement to his Super Mode based on the two of them. Ultraman Orb already makes use of Power Copying other Ultramen in his series, but Ultraman Orb The Movie: Lend Me the Power of Bonds! has him team up with Ultraman Ginga, Victory, and X and gain a Trinity form with abilities from all three of them. Ultraman Taiga: Taiga, Titas, and Fuma spend most of the series using bracelets with powers from other Ultramen for special attacks. The actual crossover comes late in the series when Taiga receives a visit from his second cousin Ultraman Zero, and Zero grants him his own bracelet. In the post-series movie Ultraman Taiga The Movie: New Generation Climax, Taiga and his friends team up with the other Ultramen they've borrowed power from, ending with them all Fusion Dancing into Ultraman Reiga. Ultraman Z and Ultraman Trigger both have a few guest Ultramen appear (Geed in the former, Z and Ribut in the latter), and their old Transformation Trinket is broken (or in Ribut's case, he doesn't carry one) so they need to borrow a copy of the main character's. But while Geed gets a new form using Z's trinket system, Trigger downplays it since Z and Ribut just transform into their regular forms. When Ultraman Trigger guest-stars in Ultraman Decker, he receives a sword that has stylistic elements based on both Trigger and Decker and is compatible with both their Transformation Trinket systems, along with Cards of Power like Decker's that allow his powers to be used in the sword's special attacks. He gifts both the sword and the Trigger cards to Decker as he leaves. Later on, Ultraman Dyna also visits Decker, and shares the powers of himself and Ultraman Tiga with Decker in the form of more cards. |

Super Sentai: The teamup between Seijuu Sentai Gingaman and Kyūkyū Sentai GoGoV saw one of GoGoV's Humongous Mecha get to use the Gingaman mecha's Super Mode. This carried over into the two-part Power Rangers adaptation with Power Rangers Lost Galaxy and Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. When the Go-Ongers teamed up with their Gekiranger predecessors, they developed an Engine-Fist style based on the Gekirangers’ Beast-Fist Supernatural Martial Arts. Thr next year, Go-On Red received access to the Shinkengers’ Hyper Mode. Downplayed with the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger/Tensou Sentai Goseiger crossover. The Goseigers did provide the Shinkengers with a power they couldn't use normally, but it was merely allowing all of the Shinkengers to use their Super Mode at once instead of one at a time. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger is a Crisis Crossover with the rest of the franchise to date, and the Gokaigers have a gimmick of Power Copying prior Sentai teams and gaining Mecha Expansion Packs based around them. When Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger crossed over with Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger, both teamsnote counting Lupinranger and Patranger as a single team got to use each other's powerups. The weapon switching was mostly just a novelty, with the exception of Noël giving the Ryusoulgers a way of directly Power Copying the Lupinrangers, equipped with duplicates of the Dial Fighters that the Lupinrangers otherwise wouldn't have enough of to unlock the Gangler's safes and rescue the Kishiryu partners. The following year, the Ryusoulgers met the Mashin Sentai Kiramager and got a Kiramager-based Super Mode. Like Gokaiger, Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger and Avataro Sentai Donbrothers have extensive Power Copying gimmicks where they borrow abilities from previous teams, even though in these cases they generally don't actually cross over with those shows. But they do have some overlap with each other; and in an Early-Bird Cameo in Zenkaiger and the first quarter of Donbrothers, they make use of Don Zenkaioh, a Combining Mecha made up of one mecha from each series. Later on in a post-series movie, Zenkaizer and Don Momotaro (in his Super Mode) cross their powers, with each getting the other's chestplate, cape, and forehead insignia. |

Toei Tokusatsu: This is often found in crossovers:note And just to keep the list from becoming too unwieldy, this list should only include special crossovers and not include times where Power Copying of prior heroes takes place without them being present. Sentai/Rider crossovers: One relatively common way this works when these two franchises crossover with each other is for a Kamen Rider to somehow combine with the Sentai team's Humongous Mecha. Kamen Rider Fourze equipped the Tokumei Sentai Go Busters mecha with giant versions of his rocket and drill weapons in Super Hero Taisen; Kamen Rider Drive's Cool Car combined with and piloted the Shuriken Sentai Ninninger mecha in Super Hero Taisen GP; and in Kamen Rider Taisen, Kamen Rider Den-O worked with the Ressha Sentai ToQger (as they shared a Cool Train theme) and formed the legs of the ToQger mecha. When Kamen Rider Decade and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger crossed over, one of Shinkenger's monsters stole Kamen Rider Diend's Transformation Trinket and became an Evil Knockoff. Then to defeat it, Decade and Shinken Red loaned each other their BFSes for the fight. Super Hero Senki featured Kamen Rider Saber and Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger, and Saber was able to use Zenkaizer's power and gain a form with some of Zenkaizer's armor and his color scheme. Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen: In addition to Kamen Rider Fourze enhancing the Go-Busters' Humongous Mecha, mentioned above; the Tensou Sentai Goseiger lend out their Cards of Power to Kamen Riders Decade, Blade, and Ryuki, who also have card based powers. Meanwhile, Kamen Rider OOO lends his powers to the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger in the form of "Ranger" Keys, letting them Power Copy his different forms like they usually do with other Sentai teams. |

The Infinite Loops runs on this trope. Considering that the premise of this Massive Multiplayer Crossover includes characters visiting other franchises in "fused loops", it's expected by any and all loopers that they can and will obtain powers from other settings. It's more notable when a looper cannot obtain powers from other settings (like the Post Guy) or certain powers are specifically programmed by the Admins to be unobtainable (Exaltations or Time Lord tech.)

Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: This has happened in all three volumes, but each with a different reason. Vol 1: Inverted For the Turtles and Splinter. The Mutagen is incompatible with the laws of Physics in The DCU, making it inert. Meaning that staying in the DC Universe for too long will turn them back into the basic animals they were originally. However, it's played straight with the villains. While the effects aren't permanent they still Mutate into various different Beast Men. Both Ra's Al Ghul and Shredder planned to bring the Mutagen to the other villains around the world, destroying every city along with its heroes. Vol 2: Once Bane crosses over to the TMNT Universenote You can blame Donnie for that and takes over the Foot Clannote Shredder is in prison he forces Baxter Stockman to create a new batch of Venom, which he has Bebop, Rocksteady and his new army of Foot Soldiers use. Bane however is given a new special brand of Venom, one mixed with the Mutagen, making him twice the size of already now even bigger Bebop and Rocksteady. With his newfound strength, he puts Master Splinter into a comanote He later woke up and recovers thanks to the Lazarus Pit, and it took the combined strength of Batman, Splinter and The Shredder to take him on. Donnie himself uses Venom as he tries desperately to correct his mistake of releasing Bane into his universe. Vol 3: Likely because of the two previous crossover events, Krang discovers, then fights and even kills The Anti-Monitor. Then uses his corpse as his new suit. With it, he had the power to manipulate and affect the Prime Earths of the two Multiverses and combine them together. |

The first event has Mobile Suit Gundam protagonist Amuro (whose own machine is in need of repair) hop into the cockpit of Mazinger Z after Kouji is injured. Being a relatively stoic Real Robot pilot, Amuro does not yell the names of Mazinger's attacks as he uses them like Kouji does.

Code Prime: When Megatron learns of the existence of Geass, he first has Shockwave examine the data that he collected from Prince Clovis' Code R secret project. Then, after capturing Mao and later V.V., Shockwave is able to produce a liquid vial of Mao's Geass and V.V.'s code, and when Megatron infuses it with Dark Energon, he then uses the mixture to give himself a Dark Geass. At the end of R1, in order to give the Autobots a fighting chance against Megatron's Dark Geass, C.C. forms a contract with Optimus Prime, and with the help of the Thirteen Primes through the Matrix of Leadership, they grant Optimus a Prime Geass. In "Valley of Kings and Titans", the Black Wyverns, formerly known as the European Union's wZERO unit, acquire the Enigma of Combination, a Relic created by Nexus Prime, the first Cybertronian Combiner, and with it, it turns their Alexanders into Combiners, allowing them to form a Super Knightmare, the Hercules. |

The Mountain and the Wolf: This happens quite often: The Wolf arranges for Jaime to have his golden hand possessed by a (likely Slaaneshi) daemon, making it able to move and change shape. Theon Greyjoy gets hit with the Call to Glory spell during the Battle of Winterfell, turning him into a Champion of Chaos and making him physically larger, stronger, giving him super-eyesight, and restoring his genitals. His confidence levels are still just as low though. Many of the Westeros characters who join the Wolf (Ironborn, Wildlings, Dothraki...) exhibit Chaos mutations such as tentacles or horns. Ramsa, Littlefinger, both Gregors and Euron get brought back to life with all kinds of new gifts and mutations to serve their new masters. The Wolf trades away Westeros dragonglass to the Chaos Dwarves, as it keeps its One-Hit Kill properties against Warhammer's undead. |

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: After discovering Tommy's deception and imprisoning him, Shredder has Baxter Stockman transfer ownership of Tommy's morpher and power coin to himself, allowing Shredder to become a Power Ranger. In issue #3, Rita and Shredder find a way to block the Rangers from morphing, but the Power Coins remain active. The Rangers get around this problem by giving their coins to April and the Turtles, allowing them to become Power Rangers in the original team's place. The Rangers on the other hand take use ninja gear, weapons, and tactics given to them by Splinter to continue contributing to the fight against the villains. They also contribute in the Humongous Mecha battle by taking Donatello's technology and enlarging Metalhead, culminating in combining Metalhead and the Dinozords together into the Turtle Megazord. In Vol. 2, the villains brainwash Casey Jones and give him a morpher of his own to become "Ranger X". The Turtles later find even more damaged morphers, revealing that Krang had taken them from a team of Dimension X Rangers that he had defeated; and they use them to gain Ranger powers that aren't tied to the Mighty Morphin' team. Meanwhile, the villains disable the regular Rangers' morphing again, which they get around this time by adding the Turtles' mutagen to the process and morphing into dinosaur mutants. On the villains' side, Krang has taken his usual practice of piloting a Mobile-Suit Human and scaled it up by stealing the Megazord and modifying it for his own use. The heroes counter this with another round of borrowing and combining each other's Humongous Mecha, with Zordon and Alpha in Metalhead and Shredder (as the Green Ranger again, in an Enemy Mine with the Rangers and Turtles) in the Dragonzord to form the Dragon Turtlezord. |

Super Smash Bros.: The games' dozens of usable items draw on the many franchises represented, allowing fighters from differing series to harness each other's abilities. So Sonic the Hedgehog could grow big with the Super Mushroom, Cloud Strife could equip the Bunny Hood, Banjo and Kazooie can throw Pokéballs, and so on. Kirby, by his nature, can copy the ability of any other Smash Bros fighters, who are, with the exceptions of Meta Knight and King Dedede, all from other video game series. |
