With a kiss, Minato "wings" Musubi and becomes her Ashikabi, or master, for the battle royale. The Sekirei Plan begins.Based on the manga by Sakurako Gokurakuin (yes, the mangaka is a woman), Sekirei lasted for 187 chapters between December 3, 2004 and August 21, 2015.A sequel manga series called Sekirei - 365 Days Without a Girlfriend started up in the fall 2017 season. Once again being done by Sakurako Gokurakuin.The series was adapted into two 12-Episode Anime seasons for the summers of 2008 and 2010. When Karasuba rants to Musubi about how glorious their final battle will be, she grabs her roughly, shoves her against the wall and the hilt of her sword presses up against Musubi like an erection, all while wearing a crazed, lustful expression. It's one of a handful of instances in the series of one character coming on to another that isn't played for laughs. Sekirei can be winged against their will, by any Ashikabi that is able to kiss them. It is described at one point as "taming" them, and Mikogami's attempts to capture first Kusano, and later Shiina, have a rather disturbing undertone to them.

Seeing as how Minaka has eyes and ears all over the place, Minato not wanting to explain why he's suddenly living with even more women, including Tsukiume, and Kusano, and all the other crazy stuff going on around them, it's hard to blame her entirely.

The demon Ashikabi title, which was given to Yukari due to her tendency to viciously assault any Ashikabi she ran into in order to ask where Sekirei No. 108 is. This hilariously gets some Ashikabi's to run away during one fight in Stage 3 in the manga. The Single Numbers are the equivalent of this trope for the Sekirei, as this signifies not only that they are the eldest and therefore the most experienced.....but also that they are inherently more powerful than their younger counterparts. The first five in particular tend to inspire Oh, Crap! moments among other Sekirei, thanks to their status as Super Prototypes.

The Tuner that messed her adjustments up was fired as a result, and took out his rage on Akitsu. He told her everything was her fault, and attempted to strangle her to death for being a failure.....forcing her to kill him in self-defense.
