Snowy Screen of Death: A static effect is used during the moment in "Rebellion" where Ruv is slowly falling onto his knees, because the Corruption had almost fully corrupted him. While he sings in his kneeling state, the snowy screen could be foreshadowing his eventual doom and his final attempts to fight back, so that Pico would be killed because of his request for death.

Heroic RRoD: When Ruv gets outnumbered by too many corrupted victims in the second half of "Rebellion", he begins to smile in a forced manner from being unable to cope up with the increasingly difficult situation. Despite the disadvantages he is put through, he goes out rapping for a couple of minutes to aim on killing Pico. Right before he is overpowered by the Corruption, Ruv carries out one last powerful attack.

Evil Sounds Deep: The "Phantasm" cover demonstrates the different pitch of voice Skid and Pump can let out, when in contrast to their corrupted selves. During the times where Skid and Pump are in control of themselves, their voices are in a high-pitch and lack any sort of distortion. For their evil selves, their voice are in a much lower pitch and they both sound similarly like when they sang in "Chiller" from Friday Night Funkin': Corruption.

A Lighter Shade of Black: Downplayed. However, when compared to the Corruption, Tabi is a hero in comparison, because the Corruption wishes to infect everyone, regardless of how moral they are.

Dead All Along: Both Evil Girlfriend and Evil Sarvente have their fates on what the Corruption had done to them is left unknown to the characters. But once they are both confronted, they shatter the hearts of the characters seeking them for their safety. For the entirety of Week 2, Ruv's journey to reach the church of Sarvente was under the belief that she is still alive. Despite Evil Pico telling him that Sarvente is already gone, Ruv wants to do his best to find her and make sure she is okay. Sadly, Ruv is met with the unfortunate truth that Sarvente had already been corrupted at her church and that his entire run had only put himself in danger. Carol had been repeatedly making phone calls to Girlfriend once the Corruption apocalypse had begun, but had received no answer from the latter. Carol finally learns as to what happened to Girlfriend when they both confront each other in "Intermission". Seeing Evil Girlfriend in her corrupted state, Carol, Sunday, and Kapi work together to survive on whatever Corruption Evil Girlfriend might infect them with.

The Heavy: The Corruption has an army of infected victims that are constantly out to corrupt any remaining survivors. Individual corrupted victims are paired up with the opponent they are faced with in their respective weeks and are given the most focus. Part 1 of Mid-Fight Masses has Evil Skid and Pump be the main driving antagonist that is focused on corrupting Sarvente in their battle. While an entire army of Corrupted victims eventually arrive to support Evil Skid and Pump, they are still given the most focus on corrupting Sarvente. Part 2 of Midfight Masses focuses on Evil Pico's goal on corrupting Ruv throughout the latter's run to save Sarvente before being too late. Although Evil Sarvente and Evil Mommy Mearest have their time to rap against Ruv, Evil Pico is still the most prominent villain with the most vocals to sing.

Shoot the Shaggy Dog: The entire week for Sarvente ends up being a completely loss for her, as she fails to save Skid and Pump from the Corruption. Even when Sarvente is pushed into using her demonic transformation, she ends up succumbing to the Corruption, alongside her efforts to protect her church and to save Skid and Pump from the Corruption. Ruv's run to rescue Sarvente before its too late was never going to end well for him, as he received her distress signal after her corruption. Even though Ruv attempted to uncorrupt Sarvente in "Rebellion", his struggle to save her ends up being waster with the arrival of Evil Mommy Mearest and her Henchmen. Near the end of "Rebellion", Ruv tries to succeed in killing Pico because of the latter's request, but it still ends up being another screw up Ruv is unable to do. With "Rebellion" over, Ruv fell to the power of the Corruption with nothing in the week where he was victorious in a battle.

For Sarvente, she acted as a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing for taking extreme measures to have both Boyfriend and Girlfriend join her church. In this mod, Sarvente's niceness is sincere, since her first measure to deal with Evil Skid and Pump is to uncorrupt them from the entities controlling them. Sarvente calms Skid down during the process of uncorrupting him and upon failing to do so, Sarvente blames herself for failing and is remorseful for having left with no choice but to kill Evil Skid and Pump for her own safety.

Autobots, Rock Out!: "Presledovanila" and "Intermission" have Sunday do this by instinct, mainly to disorient the corrupted. The Bad Guy Wins: The Corruption ultimately succeeds in corrupting Ruv and Sarvente in both Part 1 and Part 2 of Mid-Fight Masses. Even after Sarvente uses her full powers to fend off Evil Skid and Pump, she is eventually overwhelmed once The Cavalry of the Corruption arrives to overpower any attempts she may have on surviving. Ruv's entire journey to save Sarvente was All for Nothing by having to see witness her body in a corrupted state. Ruv's attempts to save her only backfire when Evil Pico summons Evil Mommy Mearest and her backup dancers to corner him in the fight. Once Ruv is cornered, it is only a matter of time before he meets his doom.

When Evil Pico shoots off Carol's phone in "Presledovanila", Sunday briefly expresses a Dull Surprise from her communication being cut off, before finally going away. At the start of "Rebellion", a mysterious figure can be seen on top of a building, and it resembles the same mysterious figure from the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption. Once Evil Sarvente arrives in "Rebellion", Ruv is briefly taken a back from how she had been overpowered by the Corruption. Nevertheless, Ruv refuses to give up his mission on saving her and works to fight harder than before. Adaptational Badass: Although the Corruption lacks the power to utilize the Nexus state to give itself better combat abilities, it makes up for that transformation with the Corruption's ability to mutate itself into more powerful versions of itself. The Corruption is able to go through five phases of mutations at maximum to boost the strength it has to trap the victims it has corrupted. In the original "Deathmatch", Daddy Dearest only faced off against Evil Pico, Evil Skid and Pump, and his corrupted wife as his only opponents. Here, Daddy Dearest's fight in the Corruption Expanded "Deathmatch" has him fight off Evil Darnell, Evil Whitty, Evil Tankman, and Evil Girlfriend as the extra included opponents. While Daddy Dearest loses just like in the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, he puts up a much better fight and requires two of his loved ones to put him into the Despair Event Horizon. While Carol, Sunday and Kapi are exhibited as popular characters, they're not often seen with strong abilities. However, during their battle in "Intermission", they bring out all the stops, with Kapi clawing at Evil Girlfriend, and Sunday utilizing her guitar to its fullest potential to disorient her. Even without angel powers, Carol more than makes up for it by utilizing golf balls as her method of attack. It's these that allow the trio to temporarily survive unscathed. Exagerrated. Ruv in the original Mid-Fight Masses was a boss who only had one song. While his one song, "Zavodila" is hard because of its double notes, he is still fairly slow at singing when compared to this version of him in here. The Corruption Expanded showcases Ruv's full power via rapping in an incredibly intense pace in both "Presledovanila" and "Rebellion". "Rebellion" in particular has Ruv be capable of facing off a large amount of corrupted victims for eight minutes, until his untimely defeat to the Corruption. Downplayed. For Tabi, his knife wielding skills is more prominently featured in this mod compared to his original mod counterpart. In Corruption Expanded, Tabi uses his knife to get close to Evil Daddy Dearest to launch a Blade Spam attack. When contrasted to the original counterpart of Tabi, he only uses his knife in a game over screen for Boyfriend.

Real Life Writes the Plot: A major reason as to why Ruv and Sarvente were needed to fall into the hands of the Corruption is that they are characters that have been banned from being used by the original creators of Mid-Fight Masses. In Evil Pico's case, he is shown to be constantly being damaged and inactive in "Rebellion", due to the loud noises that Ruv is generating. Each time Evil Pico is left damaged, he always mutates himself to grow even stronger and to stop the real Pico from ever escaping.

Original Character: Carl and Joe are characters that never existed in the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption or in any other media. They are two Tankmen soldiers that were created for this mod to assist Ruv in "Rebellion", as the latter battles his corrupted enemies. After the fall of Ruv, Carl and Joe are left on their own to fend for themselves in battling out the Corruption. Soul Skid and Soul Pump are characters based off of Soul Boyfriend and they both appear near the end of the "Phantasm" cover. The roles of Soul Skid and Pump are similar to Soul Boyfriend, due to being guardians that act as The Rival for Skid and Pump to beat their evil selves. Private Skittles is a character that is exclusive to this mod and acts as one of the captains for the Tankmen. He is introduces as the boss where Joe communicates for in the aftermath of "Rebellion".

Adaptational Nice Guy: Ruv in the original mod was prone to Disproportionate Retribution in breaking Boyfriend's legs simply because Boyfriend refused to join Sarvente's church and only cared about going to the bathroom. In Corruption Expanded, Ruv is shown to be getting along with Kapi, Sunday, and Carol, wishing them to not endanger their lives in his mission to save Sarvente.

Hope Crusher: Evil Mommy Mearest serves as a huge obstacle that can prevent characters who are trying to beat the Corruption to fail horribly in the end of their fight. To Daddy Dearest, Evil Mommy Mearest's appearance is the first major factor that weakens his will to face off the Corruption. Eventually, Daddy Dearest's anger slowly fades away and he is consumed by sorrow once Evil Mommy Mearest and Evil Girlfriend appear in the battlefield to break his heart. Once the both of them go away, Daddy Dearest simply has no more power within him to continue fighting Evil Boyfriend. To Ruv, Evil Mommy Mearest is the main reason that foils his attempts to save Sarvente from the Corruption. At first, without Evil Mommy Mearest appearing, Ruv is able to keep up on uncorrupting Sarvente, while rap battling Evil Pico at the same time. Due to Evil Mommy Mearest's sudden appearance, Sarvente ends up getting re-corrupted again and Ruv is pushed into a corner where he has to turn his back around just to directly rap battle Evil Mommy Mearest. Sooner or later, it becomes apparent that Ruv can't keep up and his Corruption gradually worsens, until being he can no longer stand.

One-Man Army: Ruv manages to fight Evil Pico for three songs straight and does so while not getting heavily corrupted. Even when Evil Sarvente and Evil Pico work together to fight Ruv in "Rebellion", the latter puts up a great fight and would have probably uncorrupted then, if not for Evil Mommy Mearest's arrival. While Ruv ultimately gets ganged up, he at least survived for two extra minutes, until falling to the corruption.

Leitmotif: "Presledovanila" brings in the leitmotifs of Pico's "Pico" song from the original Friday Night Funkin' and it is combined with Ruv's loud voice, rumbling instrumental, and Sunday's guitar. "Rebellion" combines the leitmotifs of Ruv, Evil Pico, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Mommy Mearest into its Marathon Level. Themes of Sarvente's songs can be heard once she makes her appearance and is slightly uncorrupted by Ruv. As for Mommy Mearest, her "Milf" instrumental interrupts Ruv's intense battle when she joins in to assist Evil Pico and Evil Sarvente.

However, once the corrupted opponent reveals himself to be Daddy Dearest, Tabi's initially worries are gone and are replaced with a burning anger to get revenge on him. Though Daddy Dearest is corrupted, Tabi views it as a form of his humiliation for being weak enough to lose to the Corruption and wishing to ensure Daddy Dearest is killed.

Cellphones Are Useless: For Sarvente, she has repeatedly made many attempts to call Ruv by her cellphone, but she never gets a response by him. The only way Sarvente is able to send a signal to him is by transforming into her demon form to send out a magical distress signal. Tabi made many attempts to call his boss while at a subway station, but each call had failed, due to the lack of a signal. Averted. The phone Sunday had given to Ruv in "Presledovanila" functions perfectly and both are able to communicate properly in the song. Adaptational Jerkass: Evil Pico from Friday Night Funkin': Corruption was never really a jerk and mainly acted as a hostile creature that is only interested in corrupting survivors. He shows no other emotions other than wearing a constant Slasher Smile. For the Evil Pico in Corruption Expanded, his personality is expanded and given some depth during Week 2 where he confronts Ruvzyvat. Evil Pico's personality is that he is a constant Jerkass for endangering life to find Sarvente and can react violently from hearing Sunday's guitar music. Evil Pico's rude behavior reaches its peak during "Rebellion" where he silences Pico from escaping and making his declaration to Ruv that death won't save the victims trapped inside the Corruptiom.

Near the end of "Intermission", the battlefield for Sunday, Kapi, and Carol starts to rain in their fight against Evil Girlfriend. The entire first half of "Rebellion" has the battlefield covered with raining and it stops raining when Ruv undergoes a Sanity Slippage from Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Pico ganging up on him.

Ruv's strong willpower gives him the strength to fight Evil Pico, while doing a Big Heroic Run to reach Sarvente's church. Even when Evil Mommy Mearest reveals herself through the car window of her limousine, Ruv remains unyielding to the Corruption and brushes it off, until he can find Sarvente. Once Ruv finally arrives at her church, he focuses on saving Sarvente from the Corruption, despite having to deal with Evil Pico as a secondary obstacle. In spite of the fact that Ruv is ambushed from behind by Evil Mommy Mearest and her henchmen, he still keeps up rapping, until being disoriented. Despite losing most control over his body and the disorientation he received, Ruv keeps his focus on killing Pico because of the latter's request and manages to release a Last Ditch Move Spam Attack as a last attempt to win the fight.

Hope Spot: Sarvente's chance to uncorrupt Skid and Pump end up in vain from lacking the strength to save them. By having failed to save them, Sarvente's last hope to survive is to fend them off in her demonic form. Ruv appears to be doing well in fighting off his corrupted enemies in "Rebellion", but fails in every chance that appears to be in his grasp. Ruv slightly uncorrupts Evil Sarvente despite having to face off Evil Pico at the same time, and Ruv looks as though he may actually win the fight. Ruv's luck and chances to save Evil Sarvente are quickly stripped away once Evil Mommy Mearest and her backup dancers gang up on him. Ruv's Heroic Resolve in his refusal to surrender and his desire to fulfill Pico's request to be killed ends up in vain. Even Ruv's final attack wasn't enough to save him, as he still ends up in a position of being corrupted.

Having failed to save Skid and Pump, Sarvente apologizes for her failure and is left with no other choice but to transform and kill the two of them. When Evil Sarvente makes her entrance in "Rebellion", Ruv becomes briefly shocked at her corrupted state, but continues fighting on with hopes that he can still save her. Internal Reveal: In the end of Week 1, Sarvente loses the Evil Skid and Pump, leading to her Corruption. Before her Corruption, she had sent out a distress signal for Ruv to save her, but when it finally reaches him, Sarvente had already been corruption. So when Ruv chooses to go after Sarvente's church, he only led himself into a vulnerable place where he has to learn that Sarvente was gone all along. Carol had been calling Girlfriend many times when the Corruption had begun infecting everyone. However, Carol was left out of the dark about Girlfriend being one of the first victims to be infected with the Corruption. At "Intermission", Carol finally learns what had happened to Girlfriend and is saddened on having to fight her own friend. Evil Daddy Dearest had lost to the Corruption, since his battle against it in "Deathmatch". For Tabi, he is left unaware over what had happened to Daddy Dearest and assumes him to be strong enough to survive the Corruption. When Tabi sees Daddy Dearest in his corrupted form, Tabi taunts him for being too weak to endure the Corruption and is given confidence over beating him in their fight.

Although Ruv can barely even stand up, he manages to unleash one last powerful attack to push back the Corruption before finally meeting his demise. The "Blood Moon" cover features Evil Pico as the losing opponent, while Sunday is primarily dominating him in battle. Even when it is clear that Evil Pico is losing the battle, he at least gives Sunday a hard time winning by using his Nexus form abilities on her. Adaptational Wimp: Downplayed: The Alternate Pico from the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption universe's strength remains the same, but his portrayal over losing to Sunday can make him come across as less threatening. In Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, the Tankman there had the size of a kaiju and despite being undead, Boyfriend and Pico are unable to damage him in anyway. For Tankman in here, he is only a single unit and isn't fused with other Tankmen to create the Tank Amalgam. note Tankman made his debut in this mod, before the official Friday Night Funkin': Corruption Tankman is introduces in "Hivemind". Sarvente in Mid-Fight Masses is able to fight at her best when she is transformed into her demon form. In here, Sarvente's demon form ends up making her weaker and more susceptible to the Corruption, since she had to transform in her partially corrupted state. In Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, Evil Girlfriend had special abilities in which she uses to battle Boyfriend in her week. The abilities Evil Girlfriend had were her illusions, Tendrils of Darkness, and being able to create a set of wings for herself to be hung on. For Evil Girlfriend in Corruption Expanded, she lacks the special abilities of her original counterpart and is only singing during her fight with the main surviving characters in "Intermission".

Decoy Protagonist: Right after Sarvente is corrupted by Evil Skid and Pump, the new protagonists being Ruv, Kapi, Sunday, and Carol are introduced in this mod. As Ruv worries for Sarvente, he receives a distress signal from her and it causes him to go on an adventure to find her at her church. In Ruv's journey, he appears to be the main protagonist, because of getting a week where he is the main focus and having allies to back him up to fight his corrupted enemies. Tragically for Ruv, his decision to go after Sarvente alone costs him his life, as he gets ambushed by Evil Mommy Mearest and her Henchmen by the second half of "Rebellion". Once ambushed, Ruv is left all alone by Carl and Joe, which leads to him succumbing to the Corruption. With Ruv gone, Kapi, Carol, and Sunday become the true protagonist of Corruption Expanded and now have to survive on their own.

Slow Transformation: Downplayed. Similarly to the original Corruption mod, the Corruption in here takes at least a week of songs to fully infect their victims. In the span of four songs, Sarvente has her body gets slowly corrupted by the Spooky Kids. When the Corruption starts to endanger Sarvente's life, she transforms into her final form. Sadly, her final form only makes the infection worse, resulting Sarvente getting corrupted much faster. Ruv's fares better than Sarvente, as he acquires the help of Sunday, and Carl and Joe to assist him in battling the corrupted opponents getting in his way. Ruv in the first song gets only his hat infected and when the second song, "Presdelovanila", comes, Ruv is more susceptible to the Corruption by having to run. Ruv's Corruption really speeds up on his body in "Rebellion", as he receives a huge number of corrupted opponents doing a Zerg Rush on him.
