Disney Magic Kingdoms is a world-building simulator (similar to The Simpsons: Tapped Out) developed and published by Gameloft that is based on Disney Parks. Released on March 17, 2016, the game is available for iOS, Android, and Microsoft Windows.note Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, and Windows 11; Windows Phone 8.1 was previously supportedThis mobile and computer game allows players to build their own unique Disney theme park. The story behind why they could do so is because Maleficent has placed a powerful curse on the park, ridding it of all its attractions, characters (except for Mickey Mouse), and most importantly, its magic. Merlin comes in and finds that there is still magic in the park, it just needs to be found. With the magic around the park, it's up to the player to rebuild the Kingdom, welcome back the Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars characters, lift the Kingdom's curse, and stop Maleficent's takeover.Magic is earned through tapping on attractions and concessions that players place and lift curses from throughout the park, as having characters complete various activities (i.e. tasks), or through running parades. Magic is used to expand the park (by freeing various areas from the curse), place more buildings, start parades, and (alongside the various special tokens that players must also collect) welcome characters to the park. Of course, once players begin lifting the curse, guests will come back to have some fun again, so players must also make their park's guests happy by granting their wishes (i.e. having them ride attractions or have the characters do specific activities for the guests). There are also gems to earn and purchase as premium currency, which allow players to complete activities faster or unlock premium content such as special attractions or characters (including certain limited-time characters).

The Artifact | |
Disney Magic Kingdoms (Video Game) / int_13d7a65e | comment |
The Artifact: The game was initially touted as being a Disney theme park simulator, with many of the attractions being based on real-life Disney World attractions and the theming being distinctly park-themed, with each of the available lands being based on established areas in the parks and parades being a regular activity. However, as the game has went on, it's had numerous events with characters and attractions that don't correspond to any of the actual theme parks — to the point where 2024 had an event based on Ice Age, a series that wasn't even owned by Disney when the game first came out and has never been in any of the parks — to the point where it would be more accurate to call it a Disney city simulator with theme park elements.

Overly Narrow Superlative: When Hamm asks Bo Peep for her opinion on his jokes in "Comedic Timing", she tells him that he's the funniest piggy bank she's ever met. He soon realises that he's the only piggy bank she's ever met. In "Home of the Mug of Meat!", Pacha calls Mudka's Meat Hut the "[b]est greasy spoon in this part of the Andes", before admitting that it's the only greasy spoon in that part of the Andes and that that's probably the reason it's still in business.

Breaking the Fourth Wall: The premise of their movie means that the characters from Wreck-It Ralph are well aware that they're in a video game, which reflects in their dialogue. For example, Vanellope says in one of her level-up quotes that she's never had RPG mechanics before.

Adaptation Expansion | |
Disney Magic Kingdoms (Video Game) / int_23473ae7 | comment |
Adaptation Expansion: The Lilo & Stitch characters are based on how they are during and possibly after the events of Lilo & Stitch: The Series, and Gameloft actually adds some new details to the characters that were not found in the original franchise, such as Cobra's sunglasses being prescription and Angel sharing her boyfriend's dislike and fear of water. According to one of Lord MacGuffin's side-quests, the reason his son has such a thick Doric accent is because he was sent away for lessons in the northeast, presumably catching it during his stay there.

In Medias Res: Most of the story arcs take place after at least the first movie in a given franchise, although some events take place after their second movies, such as "Finding Marlin"note takes place after Finding Dory and "A Galaxy Far, Far Away....",note takes place during the sequel trilogy, specifically between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker and "A Stitch-y Situation" takes place at least after the penultimately aired episode of Lilo & Stitch: The Series.note That show as a whole takes place after the events of the first three movies but before the fourth one. The story arcs for the Mandalorian and Raya and the Last Dragon events take place in the middle of Season 1 and mid-movie, respectively. The Ice Age event takes place shortly after Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and before Ice Age: Continental Drift, as it's mentioned early on that Peaches was born recently and Manny (with Sid and Diego in tow) is searching for the safest place to raise a family.

Mythology Gag | |
Disney Magic Kingdoms (Video Game) / int_26ac510e | comment |
Mythology Gag: This game is crammed with references to many Disney characters' source material. One good example is the Fairy Godmother mentioning Cinderella's original silver dress color. One of Anastasia's tasks is to talk about forgiveness with Cinderella. While nothing of the sort happened in the original Cinderella, Anastasia would pull a Heel–Face Turn in the Direct to Video sequel A Twist In Time, prompting Cinderella to forgive her for her actions. A quest involving the Evil Queen has her make a deadly comb and bodice to kill Snow White, just like in the original story. Fortunately for Snow White, the items have to sit for a while before they're usable and the queen doesn't want to wait. Boo's first quest involves her being led toward a surprise birthday party being thrown in her honor at The Laugh Floor; The original premise for the film that became Monsters University was that Mike and Sulley were to try to visit Boo and bring her a birthday present. In their search for her, they wind up getting stuck in the human world. In one of his quests, the Sultan mentions recognising the Beast as one of his toys, referencing the Easter Egg in Aladdin where the Beast can be seen in the tower of toy animals the Sultan is building. In one of Joe's sidequests, he makes references to Disney's Animated Adaptation of Casey at the Bat and the related "Casey's Corner" restaurants at various Disney parks ("Why this place named a hot dog restaurant after a guy who strikes out in the big game, though? This, I don't understand."). There is no attraction based on "Casey's Corner" in the game, but an unrelated hotdog concession stand does exist. One Iago sidequest indirectly references the "Under New Management" version of The Enchanted Tiki Room he was involved in alongside Zazu as something he says he always wanted to do. It's played for irony since the Real Life version lasted longer than his in-quest prediction (13 years) before being changed back due to fire damage. Separate sidequests for Pain and Panic have them each acknowledge that they're separate beings from Ares' sons Deimos and Phobos, the gods of Terror and Fear, respectively. The former two were originally based on the latter two, who also appeared in-person in two episodes of the animated series. One sidequest has Hades hear about a possible takeover and wonder if Hecate is responsible, as she previously tried to overthrow him in the animated series. Another of Hades's sidequests has him remember the events of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, an interactive card game guests could play at the Magic Kingdom in Florida that featured Hades teaming up with various other Disney villains to take over the park. When Timothy Q. Mouse is first welcomed, he thinks for a second that his circus is back in Florida ("You gotta admit, there's a resemblance there."). Florida is not only where the original movie started, it's also home to the game's namesake theme park. During one of Sir Hiss' sidequests, he attempts to spy on Robin Hood, and comes up with the backstory that he's a forester from Gisbourne looking to join his merry band. He neglects to come up with a name, and stammers out "I'm merely a guy." when asked. Sir Guy of Gisbourne is a character from the original Robin Hood legends, who Sir Hiss serves as a stand-in for in the animated film. Pinocchio at one point mentions that Geppetto once told him a story where Pinocchio rode on the back of a pigeon, an event from the original book that wasn't adapted in the film. During the 101 Dalmatians event, part of the confusion caused by the Gossip Evolution in the Lion King sidequests has Ed and by extension Scar think there's 99 lost spotted hyenas running around. "Spotted hyenas" are what Jasper briefly think Pongo and Perdita are in the original movie due to bad lighting. Jehan Frollo and Pierre Gringoire, two characters from the original The Hunchback of Notre Dame book, are referenced in Frollo and Djali's sidequests, respectively. Another of Frollo's sidequests has him wish that he were the Archdeacon instead, noting that he considered such a path in his younger days before deciding against it, a reference to the fact that he and the Archdeacon are Decomposite Characters of Archdeacon Claude Frollo from the book. During Anger's "Ride Rage" sidequest, he test drives the thrill ride Joy made out of some of the Recall Tubes. His resulting complaints of what the ride lacks reference The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rockin' Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith, and Expedition Everest. Eilowny's alternate costume from the Kingdom Pass has her wear a blue version of her usual purple dress. This is based on various tie-in products, such as the cover◊ for the Disney's Storyteller Series adaptation of the movie.

Bilingual Bonus: Sometimes characters will speak in a language other than English, and said non-English dialogue is not translated for the player. During some of his quests, Buzz Lightyear reverts to Spanish mode. Angel speaks only in Tantalog, while Stitch speaks mostly in Tantalog as well much like in Lilo & Stitch: The Series. (Who wants to bet that Gameloft used Disney Wiki's article on the language to write the experiments' dialogue?) Stitch also sings a line from a traditional Hawaiian song ("Pua Lilia") after completing a quest.

Gossip Evolution: During the 101 Dalmatians event, Nala overhears the Twilight Bark's message to be on the lookout for ninety-nine missing Dalmatian puppies and tells Simba. However, Nala misinterprets the message as referring to African Spotted Dogs. From there, the story continues to change as it's passed along by the Pride Lands' inhabitants. Pumbaa tells Timon that the message is about Spotted Foragers, a type of insect. Ed tells Scar that the message is about a pack of spotted hyenas looking for a new leader. This receives a minor reversal call-back during the Aristocats event when Toulouse and Marie are recruiting animals for the charity gala. The dogs they talked to are mostly unspecified, but Toulouse talked to 51 and Marie talked to 52, plus "one odd laughing dog with googly eyes and his tongue sticking out."

Even Evil Has Standards: One of the Pinocchio sidequests during the The Hunchback of Notre Dame event combines this with Comically Missing the Point and I Take Offense to That Last One. The former movie's characters get word that a judge (Frollo) is coming to town, and the story of the latter movie is passed along. Stromboli reads it and promptly flees, as while he doesn't really care about Frollo arresting innocent people and burning innocent buildings, he can't believe a lawman would want to punish people like him who run puppet theaters.

Disney Magic Kingdoms (Video Game) / int_392372f9 | comment |
Actor Allusion: In "In the Name of Macintosh!", Lord Macintosh is confused by someone saying he reminds him of "a wee English owl he once saw". Lord Macintosh's voice actor, Craig Ferguson, also played Owl in Winnie the Pooh (2011). Mr. Stork's sidequest "Note Perfect" has him try to practice his singing with "a python, a purple cat, and a stuffed bear", only to find that they all have the same vocal range. This is a reference to three other roles played by his voice actor Sterling Holloway: Kaa from The Jungle Book (1967), the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland, and Winnie the Pooh in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Noodle Incident: LeFou's story about what happened to him after the attack on the Beast's castle in the Tower Challenge centered around him starts with him jumping into a well after accidentally setting his pants on fire, takes an hour to tell, and somehow ends with him clogging the entire Paris sewer system. Mr. Stork mentions in the Dumbo storyline quest "Destination Unknown" that the stork equivalent to "finding a needle in a haystack" is "finding a fish egg dropped in a gumball machine", which is apparently based on a true story. In the quest "Low Note" from the Soul event, Dorothea tells Joe a story from her music that ends with this:

A subtle downplayed example in The Little Mermaid bonus quest "News from the Deep!" held during The Princess and the Frog event. After completing the quest, Flounder states that he found lots of human benches and lampposts underwater, saying, "I don't know why they're all down there... but somebody must've REALLY wanted to get rid of them!" This is a dig from the developers toward the players who get rid of benches and lampposts for Merlin's elixirs instead of using them for decorating the park.note That said, Flounder himself doesn't mind them because he'll have a new feeding place once coral grows on them.

Adaptation Distillation
Disney Magic Kingdoms (Video Game) / int_5a40d6a | comment |
Adaptation Distillation: Most of the characters in the game are primarily based on their most famous and prominent aspects taken from their original films. Tangled and the original Star Wars trilogy in particular are notable for having their respective storylines be fairly standard adaptations of their source material rather than original storylines like most of the films in the game. Lilo & Stitch is unique in that takes elements not only from the original film, note Nani wears her crop top, denim cutoffs and boots from that film, Lilo and Stitch's dance at the ʻOhana Restaurant is a recreation of their dance at Mrs. Hasagawa's fruit stand in the film but also Lilo & Stitch: The Series, note Jumba and Pleakley wear their casual outfits from the show, the beach is named Lahui Beach and the experiments are referenced there, Lilo's House is based on its appearance in the show, locations around Kokaua Town (which was named by the show) are referenced in quests, and of course, Angel (who is not yet capable of speaking English as in her original appearances) is an unlockable character with a few elements taken from Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitchnote Lilo's House has two hovercrafts and an antennae on the roof of Lilo and Stitch's bedroom tower; these appear at the end of the original film and were maintained (except for one of the hovercrafts) in Lilo & Stitch 2, but not in The Series, which replaced the antennae with a skylight and the hovercrafts were completely absent and the Stitch! anime.note Angel (who is a more recurring character in the anime) wears cyan sunglasses and holds a purple parasol in her welcoming cutscene; she had both objects in an episode of the anime. The whole game itself is this to all of Disney Parks, with many buildings based on attractions and restaurants found in numerous parks whether they're common mainstays or one-resort-exclusives. Attractions that have different park variants may be based on one particular version or a mashup of multiple versions.

But judging by dialogue, it is implied that there are moments where characters from one set end up interacting in some way with characters from another set if not more. However, certain characters can also visit attractions outside of their respective collections for tasks. This includes but is not limited to: Toy Story characters visiting Space Mountain, California Screamin', Astro Orbiters, and/or Space Traders. Tinker Bell and the characters from Cinderella and Tangled visiting the Princess Fairytale Hall and/or Fantasy Faire. Rapunzel and Flynn can visit it's a small world for a joint task. Nala manages while attempting to hunt to encounter Maximus (who she describes as "a zebra without stripes") and Chief Bogo ("...and I THINK I spotted a cape buffalo out there? But it was acting... strange. REALLY strange."). One of Banzai's quests also has him encountering Chief Bogo, who he describes as a "weirdo" for walking on his back legs. During the first Tower Challenge, Mr. Incredible implies that he has at least heard the voice of Judy Hopps on the police scanner he listens to in the park. During the second Tower Challenge, Doc implies that he personally met and interacted with Elsa. Subverted during the third Tower Challenge, during which Maleficent tried to get help from Oogie Boogie, Gaston, Jafar, Ursula, and the Queen of Hearts. During one quest, Bambi asks Thumper what kind of rabbit he is because he's implied to have seen the March Hare, Rabbit, and Judy Hopps ("another grey one... but she looks different anyway...") and got confused. note while the White Rabbit was added to the game as an event character, Thumper cut Bambi off before he could possibly list him. While showing his teddy bear around the park in one quest, Michael Darling saw Winnie the Pooh. He thinks that Pooh "must belong to a boy just like [him]!" and says that maybe he and Christopher Robin (unnamed in the text) can someday be friends, and that their bears can too. Charlotte La Bouff and Lady Tremaine separately hear about Prince Hans while trying to find unattached princes in the kingdom. But Charlotte (thankfully) hears of his true colors from Anna before she can make her move, and Tremaine doesn't want her daughters to only be thirteenth in line to the throne. Joe has a sidequest where Tony has ordered him to advertise their restaurant's gelato, and figures out why: Nani is on the other corner advertising shave ice for her part-time job. Jock meets "two very large cats who were quite charming" during a sidequest and wants to introduce them to Lady and Tramp. Tramp meets Dante during a sidequest, and is confused about the latter's appearance and question of whether or not Tramp could see his wings. During a sidequest to call for backup, Colt Bronco mistakes Chief Bogo for "a minotaur on the force" he didn't know about. During a sidequest to search the kingdom for a potential suitor, the Bride discovers the Queen of Hearts and decides she will ask the queen to be the matron of honor at her next wedding, thanks to their shared love of hatchets. Two years later during the Haunted Mansion Tower Challenge sidequests, the queen hears a rumor about the Bride and wants to make her acquaintance for similar reasons. Only she can't find the Bride because she's a ghost and no one told the queen that. Alice gets word of the Bride's Black Widow nature and tells the queen, who misunderstands and thinks the Bride will dispatch any husband. As a result, she angrily changes her mind about making friends because in terms of beheading, her own husband the king is off-limits. While looking for potential hero work, Hercules meets several of the kingdom's more beastly inhabitants, including Chief Bogo, Colt Bronco, and Mike and Sulley, and is pleasantly surprised to see how friendly they are in comparison to the monsters back home in Thebes. In one sidequest, Remy mentions he's been swapping recipes with Tiana, and that they normally get along great. But being unaware of her past, he ends up having an Innocently Insensitive moment when sharing his traditional French preparation for "cuisses de grenouille" (frog legs), which he considers delicious. One of Linguini's storyline quests has him befriending Tony when the latter comes to visit the former's restaurant. Linguini notes that they both have a lot in common since Tony's been in the restaurant business forever and is a BIG fan of animals, and that Linguini reminds him of Joe, only "more responsible." They swap recipes too, and Tony's recipe gives Remy the inspiration he needs to finish his newest entrée. In one of Linguini's sidequests, he mistakes Lumière for a free candelabrum. He's understandably confused when it vanishes not long after bringing it back to the restaurant, leaving a cupcake covered in "delicious grey stuff" in its place. In one of Bruce's sidequests, he ponders if eating a half-fish, half-human would violate his pledge to not eat fish. Thankfully he decides not to. Not just because he doesn't want to risk it, but because according to him, humans taste terrible. In one of her sidequests, Destiny swims through a section of water in the park that she describes as smelling like cave dirt and soup, and she wonders if a family has been washing their hands there all at once. After Bailey and Destiny attempt to work out during a sidequest, the former realizes they should've been doing it to music. He says he thinks there's a crab somewhere around that could help, and wonders if he's got a workout mix. Luca, after spotting Ariel swimming in the kingdom's waterways, notes that he wasn't aware of sea monsters that only transform into humans halfway. He also sees Sebastian, and says that his dad would love to know about the existence of singing crabs. In one of Giulia's sidequests, she notices a new restaurant (Tony's) opened up while she was away and thinks they'll need tons of fish. But she gets confused by their menu having polpette (meatballs) on top of the spaghetti ("Who even DOES that?! Actually, it might be an American thing? I think I saw it in a movie, once..."). Where she's from, they prefer meatballs without the pasta. In a sidequest during the 101 Dalmatians event, Nala hears the Twilight Bark's message to be on the lookout for the ninety-nine missing pups. Although due to not knowing what Dalmatians are, she mistakenly thinks it's referring to African Spotted Dogs. Perdita is implied to have run into Rajah, who she considered gentlemanly and an "experienced pet owner" (from her perspective, humans are animals' pets instead of the other way around) who specializes in raising fancy breeds and recently took in a stray. Pinocchio is implied to have become friends with a boy at school who claims that his body changes whenever he gets wet. Jiminy Cricket mentions coming across Timon and Pumbaa during a sidequest before mentioning he should try and stick with "that other cricket" and his "bright red lizard friend". The Blue Fairy at one point comes across Flora and Fauna, who argue over what color her dress should be. While selling fake maps to a field where gold grows on trees, Honest John is given a citation for fraud by none other than Nick Wilde. He later looks around for a new base of operations, and finds an inn that was recently purchased by someone from France. He gives up after deeming that the rumors of dancing tablewear couldn't possibly be true. During one of Geppetto's sidequests, he completes a commission for Elsa, who requested a cuckoo clock based on Olaf. In one of Stromboli's sidequests, he grumbles over the fact that the Ringmaster has set up his circus just across the way from his marionette show. Sir Hiss learns that another snake is trying to usurp his position. He has doubts that they'll be able to pull it off, on account of their massive size and their sibilance. note a habit of stretching out the "S" sounds in words, known here as Sssssnake Talk. Phoebus holds an archery competition, and is able to recruit Merida, Mulan, and Robin Hood, taking note of Robin Hood's idea of redistribution of wealth. Frollo finds a scarf, and it is heavily implied that a dog slept on it. Whether it be Pluto, any of the Dalmatians, Lady, Tramp, Jock, Trusty, or any other dog is up for debate. Quasimodo becomes friends with Rapunzel, and the two have an arts-and-craft meetup. Webby's storyline quests have her mistaking Dumbo for the baby elephant she wished for. Because he can fly, she fears that her genie friend is in trouble. The misunderstanding is eventually cleared up by a certain other genie, as is discussed afterwards by Louie and Webby. While looking for their genie friend by flying the Golden Condor helicopter, Dewey spotted "a couple old guys dressed kinda like Flintheart Glomgold." In his opening monologue regarding The Aristocats event, Merlin mentions checking with his talking owl Archimedes first. But Archimedes explained that if he can get along with lions, then a few housecats won't be a problem. While recruiting animals for the gala in The Aristocats event, Duchess and her kittens come across a baboon who paints pictures of cats, a conductor whose orchestra can only play underwater, over 100 unspecified dogs (Toulouse talked to 51, Marie to 52) plus "one odd laughing dog with googly eyes and his tongue sticking out", and an airborne elephant.

Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: The Inside Out event has a slightly delayed example. After Fear finds out that Disgust is missing, two of his ideas for terrible things that could have happened to her are falling down a trap door or getting replaced by an invisible evil doppelganger. Later, after he and Sadness have found her stuck in the Recall Tubes and he has gone back to Headquarters to man the controls while Sadness gets Disgust out, he remarks to himself how silly it was of him to think those things happened. Then Sadness returns, accidentally startling him.

What the Hell, Player? | |
Disney Magic Kingdoms (Video Game) / int_72dd7026 | comment |
What the Hell, Player?: Several characters will call you out if you try to make them perform a task while they're already busy doing something else.

Ageless Birthday Episode: The Winnie the Pooh side story in the Inside Out event centres around Rabbit realising that he forgot it's Eeyore's birthday, which is a problem given that he promised to host the party. He lies to Eeyore that they're actually holding a Surprise Party at his house, and then scrambles to get there before Eeyore so he can throw a last-minute party. Fortunately, Christopher Robin and Piglet just so happen to bring decorations and decide to put them up before Eeyore or Rabbit gets there, while the sealed honey pot Pooh brings as a present takes care of food, so everything works out in the end. Like in many examples, Eeyore's age (as much as a plush toy can have one) is never mentioned.

Villains Out Shopping: When not acting as Arc Villains for specific storylines, the villains are actually able to integrate well amongst the park's inhabitants upon being welcomed without making too strong of an effort to cause trouble (though not without showcasing elements of their villainous nature nonetheless). In fact, some (such as Randall, Captain Hook, or Davy Jones) don't even appear to serve the main villain role for their respective character sets' story arcs. This is directly lampshaded by Davy Jones during one of his sidequests.

The Moana event focuses on Moana's parents Sina and Chief Tui — both of whom were minor characters in the movie — and their investigation of the invading Kakamora. Maui and Moana herself don't come into play until later on. The Turning Red event focuses on Miriam, Priya, and Abby's efforts to find Mei. Mei herself doesn't show up until about halfway through the story, while her mom Ming is a premium character who doesn't factor into the storyline. Shout-Out: In "Who's the Boss?", Mike hires Roz as his assistant under the assumption that she'll do all his work for him, rather than motivate him to do his own work as she thought she was hired to do. When this misunderstanding rears its head, he has this to say: "Roll for Initiative!" from the Onward storyline has one to The Lord of the Rings. During Pain's "Equine Espionage" sidequest, he tries to figure out what Pegasus likes in case he and Pain need to capture him again. One of his guesses is "A multi-season play about other flying horses". A couple side quests make references to the Kingdom Hearts series. Scrooge McDuck's "Hidden Treasures" has him use a magic amulet that lets him look into other worlds. Phil's "For the Kids!" involves his attempts at making Hercules' training grounds more kid-friendly. In the quest "Robin Returns!" from the Robin Hood event, Robin mentions that Friar Tuck is on a trip to Canterbury with a sizable crowd, referencing The Canterbury Tales, which includes "The Friar's Tale". Abby's sidequest "Ooh, Special Features!" has her watching a tokusatsu show that only ran on Canada for a month with Tyler on DVD. She notes that it applies to her life since she and her friends are "five teens with attitude" and a favourite colour and that Mei has a transformation sequence, implying that the show in question is Power Rangers.

Shoo Out the Clowns | |
Disney Magic Kingdoms (Video Game) / int_f97b5d33 | comment |
Shoo Out the Clowns: Happened to Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Woody, and Jessie during early major events. The former two, in particular, would have at least a few quests to help kick off an event and/or figure out how to deal with the eternally-respawning tapper enemies with a few more quests later on, and the latter two would have semi-related side-quests. All four would be helpful for collecting tokens and event currency regardless, but soon enough, the plot would focus solely on the new characters introduced in the event (e.g.: those from Beauty and the Beast), who, were the only ones who could participate in the event's boss battle(s). Eventually, Mickey, Goofy, Woody, and Jessie were phased out of the event plots entirely in favour of a set of characters from a previous event getting a shorter sideplot, independent but sometimes with a tangential relation the main plot of the event.
