Some offensive moves require the user to stand in place, and then there's the other extreme of attacking while moving full tilt in a direction. Unlike Flash Step, this doesn't always require Super-Speed, which is great for allowing a Mighty Glacier to gain a little bit of speed. A Horn Attack is often preceded by the attacker charging toward the target. A Sister Trope to Sprint Shoes, which may enable this. See also Battering Ram, Deadly Lunge, Foe-Tossing Charge, Rolling Attack, Slide Attack, and Video Game Dashing. Examples |

Warhammer: Age of Sigmar: Mazarall The Butcher has the Bloody Charge special rule that gives him a chance to cause heavy damage to any foes unfortunate enough to be charged by the mighty Daemon Prince of Khorne. This rule is to represents Mazarall's great rage and strength as he charges into the heart of the enemy's force. When engaging a worthy foe, the Gore Queen Valkia the Bloody dives into battle with her spear Slaupnir levelled at her enemy's heart. In-game this is represented by the spear causing multiple wounds during the same turn that Valkia charges rather than the usual one. Chitin: The Harvest Wars: The Phlanx and Gantua can make charge attacks, which gives them two extra movement points and doubles their strength for attack purposes. They are considered to be disrupted after they complete the attack. |

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare: The All-Star Zombie can perform a "Sprint Tackle" or the stronger "Ultra Tackle". Both attacks prioritize damage over movement and shove off enemies if the attack doesn't kill them. Super Brainz from the second game has the "Heroic Kick", which is more for mobility purposes than damage, even being executable in mid-air. He can also use his attack more often than All-Star, being able to use it twice in a row before going into ability cooldown. |

In Playstation All Stars Battle Royale, Jak's Dashing Forward Punch and Jet Board Dash (both mapped to Forward Square) shoot Jak about 4 character-lengths in distance and can be excellent for Hit-and-Run Tactics. Evil Cole's Firebird Strike rushes at high speed, and lets him ram opponents while engulfed in fire. In Sonic Battle, there are five types of attacks that can be executed from the ground: the basic combo, "Heavy" (knockback) attack, "Upper" attack, ground special, and the Dash Attack. The Dash attacks here are second only to the ground special in variability between characters, and can be even more variable when used by the customizable character Emerl, when combining them with different dash abilities than their original users. For example, Rouge's dash can inflict multiple hits when combined with most dash skills, but can work as a second dash and long distance hit when combined with Shadow's dash. Tails' dash attack combined with Rouge's dash puts Emerl in higher flight than is possible for any other character.

Mighty No. 9: The AcXelerate mechanics are built around weakening opponents until they're destabilized then dashing towards or nearby them. Doing so defeats the enemies quicker and a rewards higher score bonus depending on how quickly they were absorbed plus a build a 100% Combo end-stage bonus for absorbing 100% of their xels in succession. Players however aren't required to dash directly as they can use the small vacuum effect surrounding Beck and RAY as they dash, which allows them to absorb weakened enemies without touching them. Dungeons & Dragons: A character can charge at an enemy and attack them, which gives a small bonus but allows the enemy to do massive damage if they're ready for you (e.g. have a spear with its base set against the ground to impale you). Flying creatures such as giant eagles and dragons can make swoop/dive attacks at ground-based opponents. 1st Edition monsters that are noted as performing a charge attack at enemies: Monster Manual: Baluchitheriums, buffalos, bulls, Monoclonius (prehistoric rhinoceri), dinosaurs (Pentaceratops, Styracosaurus, Triceratops), dragons, giant goats, giant rams, rhinoceri (regular and wooly), titanotheres, unicorns Monster Manual II: goats, minimal rhinoceri, aquatic ogres, rams, stench kows, thunder beasts Fiend Folio: bullywugs (hop attack, technically), thoqquas Forgotten Realms: The 2nd Edition supplement Hall of Heroes has the werebison, which can change into a minotaur-like form with a bison's head and two short horns. They charge head-first into their opponents, doing 1-4 Hit Points of damage. The Bloody Path ability can be interpreted as this, the attacker making an attack against every enemy he runs past (the wording says the enemy attack themselves by accident, leading to no end of Fridge Logic). |

MotorStorm: a rare Racing Game example, Pacific Rift introduced the ability to ram to either side with the L1/R1 buttons with all classes at the cost of some boost. Bikes and ATVs are exempt, thoughnote Those use can punch to either side, but they don't consume boost (and also can compensate by being more agile than the other classes). That said, it can also give the heavier classes an edge in agility if you instead use the dash to go faster through sharp corners. Apocalypse, oddly, sets all bike (we mean dirt, choppers and superbikes) and ATV classes to use the side-shifting ramming from their heavier brethren, instead of the punching mechanism. |

Shovel Knight: In Shovel of Hope, Shovel Knight can equip the Propeller Dagger, which allows him to fly in a straight horizontal line, damaging any enemy that gets in the way. This interrupts the flight, however. In Specter of Torment, Specter Knight's signature ability is the Dash Slash, which lets him instantly dash in a nearby enemy's direction and deal damage. Not just a powerful attack, but a handy mobility tool as well. In King of Cards, King Knight's primary attack is the Shoulder Bash, where he simply rushes forward and bodyslams the first enemy he hits. Many of the playable characters in Showdown have dash attacks, such as Mole Knight's Belly Slide, Propeller Knight's Saber Lunge, and Polar Knight's Polar Plow. There are also inversions, where the character dashes away from the opponent while attacking. |

Devil May Cry: The Stinger attack works like a pair of Sprint Shoes in some situations, as it moves far faster than his usual running-speed (it gets payed for in cool-down time). Dante dashes along the ground before stabbing his sword into the first enemy encountered. Most 3-D action/hack-and-slash/beam'em up games have since relied on this technique. Nero, who was introduced in Devil May Cry 4, has his own dash attack called Streak. Nero dashes along the ground before making a powerful horizontal slash with his sword. Streak also has an airborne counterpart called Calibur. |

Brawl Stars: Mortis' main attack is a piercing dash that makes him move forward and damage anyone who gets caught in his path along the way. Coupled with his already very fast speed, this makes of him an extremely agile Brawler who can chase pretty much whoever he wants. Bull's Super is a dash that knocks back enemies and breaks walls. Colette's Super is unique in that she dashes, turns around and reverses, ultimately landing in the same spot she started in. This gives her the chance to hit enemies twice during the dash and enables many Hit-and-Run Tactics. Stu's Super consists of a rather short dash (whose distance can be greatly increased with the Zero Drag Star Power) he can constantly spam thanks to it charging with only one projectile, giving Stu great mobility as long as he can constantly hit the enemy. It also briefly leaves a trail of fire on the ground that can burn enemies. |

Sonic the Hedgehog: Several characters specialize in this type of attack. |

Justice League Heroes: The Flash, unusually for a Beat 'em Up, allows you to dash to any enemy on the screen (assuming there is nothing in your way). It does much less damage than a normal strike, but using The Flash's Super-Speed to dash to a second enemy right before the first one can punch you is incredibly satisfying.

Chrono Trigger: Several special attacks are presented like this, such as Robo's "Robo Tackle," Ayla's "Rollo Kick," and of course Crono and Frog's famous X-Strike. Some Chrono Cross characters have attacks like these as their unique Techs, such as Serge's "Dash&Slash" and Glenn's "Dash&Gash". And if you take the (counterintuitive) steps to get them both in your party, you can have them pull off an X-Strike of their own for double the fun.

Mega Man: Many special weapons throughout the franchise (both the classic series and the X series) apply: Charge Kick in Mega Man 5 (NES) and Mega Man IV (Game Boy) overlaps with Slide Attack, weaponizing Mega Man's slide. Break Dash in Mega Man V (Game Boy) is a chargeable shoulder tackle. X's Nova Strike is a flying tackle available with special armor upgrades in Mega Man X4, X5, X6 and X8. The charged-up Speed Burner in Mega Man X2 causes X to dash forward while Wreathed in Flames. In Mega Man X4, Zero's Shippuuga ends a ground dash with a half-circle slash of his Z-Saber. Mega Man X5: Zero's F-Splasher/Hisuisho technique is an air-dash while covered in a barrier of ice that both protects from and damages enemies on contact. The W-Shredder/Shippuu technique allows Zero to immediately cancel a ground dash and send out an illusionary double that slashes a few body lengths ahead. Rare for the series is that in Mega Man X8 Zero actually has two of them: Raikousen/Raijinken enables him to dash forward and deliver an electrically-charged stab/uppercut (can also be used as an air dash), and Youdantotsu is a forward-thrust that can break barriers. Raikousen is also one of Zero's special moves in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The Mega Man Zero series from the 2nd game onward has a dashing stab as one of Zero's recurring EX skills. Zero 2 and 4 they are elec-elemental, while the one in Zero 3 is Non-Elemental. The Fishy enemies from Mega Man Battle Network attack by charging forwards even into Mega Man's area and damaging him if they run into him. The Battle Chip that the basic Fishy gives Mega is even called by the trope name and allows him to pull off one by holding onto a Fishy. Super Smash Bros.: Every fighter in the series can perform a dash attack out of a run. The application for every fighter can vary; some are hard-hitting punishers, while others might be good for starting combos. Various special moves also qualify. Fox McCloud's Fox Illusion special move (as well as Falco's and Wolf's variants) looks like a Flash Step that knocks away opponents standing in the user's path. Also, every character has a normal dash attack. This is also Ganondorf and Captain Falcon's side-B move in. If used on a flat surface, their down-B move does this as well. |

Star Trek: The Next Generation: The rarely seen "Picard Maneuver" involves a short-distance warp jump, which makes your enemy's sensors think that you're in two places at once.
