There are some unique laughs that, when imitated by anyone, immediately bring to mind a single person. It may be an Annoying Laugh or an Evil Laugh, it may be the sounds/words used, its tendency to catch on with anyone around, or the fact that it's at a terribly inappropriate time, but everyone knows who it's connected to. When this happens, this person has a Signature Laugh. It doesn't count if it reminds you of a type of person (like the Noblewoman's Laugh), nor just a type of laugh (like The Hyena). It must be an individual who springs immediately to mind when it's heard. Can overlap somewhat with Verbal Tic. Some of these sounds are difficult to translate onto a page, but when you hear them, you know. Compare Annoying Laugh, Evil Laugh, Laughing Mad. |

In The Adventures of Archie Andrews from the 1940s and 1950s, both Veronica and Archie had unique laughs they used a lot. Archie would make a sort of awkward, love-sick laugh especially when Veronica would greet him. Veronica had a similar sounding laugh that she would use frequently.

Batman featured notable ones from several villains: Frank Gorshin's manic giggle as the Riddler is well known enough that it was one of the elements Jim Carrey brought to his performance in Batman Forever. Burgess Meredith's squawking "waugh waugh waugh" laugh as the Penguin was partially a case of Enforced Method Acting, as Meredith had quit smoking in real life, and the cigarettes he had to have with him as Penguin irritated his throat. |

Classic Disney Shorts: Mickey Mouse's high-pitched giggle from when Walt Disney was voicing him. Wayne Allwine's short "Ha-ha!" from more recent times is almost as memorable. Minnie Mouse shares a cuter variation of Wayne Allwine's Mickey's laugh provided by late voice actress Russi Taylor. Russi Taylor and Wayne Allwine were also married in real life until his passing in 2009. Donald Duck's signature "Wak, wak, wak wak, wak wak wak!" Goofy's distinctive "Ah-hyuck!" Which has passed onto his son, Max Goof. Chip 'n Dale's high-pitched giggling introduced by Tress Macneille and Corey Burton in 1989, which Roko Takizawa and Minoru Inaba (the duo's current Japanese voices) took cues in Japan. Pete's loud laugh provided by Jim Cummings. His laugh was also based on Billy Bletcher and Will Ryan's performance of the character. |

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You: Shizuka uses the phrase "She laughed aloud" with the text-to-speech app on her phone to indicate laughter on her part. Even in the middle of being tickled. Implied with Ahko. Her reaction to Kusuri's laughing drug suggests that her catchphrase, "That sends me", is supposed to be her laughing. It's clearer in the original Japanese, where her catchphrase is instead slang for "lol". |

Viola Cadaverini from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Trials and Tribulations has a sinister laugh ("Hee... hee... hee...") that she uses when discussing something violent or creepy. Calisto Yew has one so distinctive it gets its own animation, where she doubles over clutching her stomach with an enormous grin on her face, usually accompanied by her Leitmotif playing. This is used for a Wham Shot in Case 5, where Shih-Na laughs in the exact same way. After being revealed as the phantom, Detective Fulbright from Dual Destinies reveals a "Hee hee hee hee! Hoo hoo hoo! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!", always with that exact length, capitalization, and punctuation, taking up exactly one text box all to itself. Its flawless consistency is probably meant to convey that it's completely fake. |

Undertale: Papyrus has a distinctive "NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!...HEH," which he even uses in written notes. This is lampshaded in the Enemy Scan. Comparisons to Skeletor ensued. Sans's "heh heh heh" might not seem as unique as his brother, if it weren't for the fact that his Voice Grunting takes the form of it. Resident Cute Monster Girl Muffet gets an "Ahuhuhuhu~" Flowey's laugh is "Hee hee hee..." This is a trait he took over from Asriel. Asriel's final form has "Ura ha ha!" Pretty evil. Super Mario Bros.: Mario has a distinctive "Ha-ha!" chuckle, first seen in Super Mario 64 and often seen again in later games. It isn't as prominent as some of his other catchphrases, but still noticeable when it appears. Bowser, King of the Koopas, has an Evil Laugh that either goes "GWAHAHAHA!" or "BWAHAHAHA!" Many villains from the Mario RPGs have signature laughs. They may or may not be rendered as a sound effect (most are simply printed out as text, especially in the Paper Mario series). Lord Crump has "Buh! Buh! Buh huh huh!", and Grodus has "Gack ack ack ack!" Count Bleck's is "Bleh heh heh heh heh! BLECK!" The same game has Dimentio's "Ah ha ha ha!" Fawful tends to giggle in a way that's written in the Japanese version as "Fururururu!" (tying in with his Verbal Tic there of ending his sentences with "-ru"). It's absent from his dialogue in the English localizations, but it's kept in the French dialogue, which adapts it as "Fuyuyuyuyu!" |

In the Sky One adaptation of Hogfather, when Death briefly takes the role of the absent Hogfather (the Disc's Santa Claus), he... it's from the book but instead of the novel's not-quite-getting-it deadpan (Ho. Ho. Ho.) he tries to play along with "Ho ho ho" but always delivers an oddly-stressed "HO hoho!" The scene is kept, like most of the book, when he surprises the Auditors from inside a snowman and, as the last thought in an ultimatum, he sarcastically ponders, "Have you been naughty... or nice? Ho. Ho. Ho."

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Prussia from has the rather unique "Kesesesesese". In the dub, France has "onhonhonhon", the stereotypical French laugh. Some fans use "kolkolkolkol" as Russia's laugh and "fusosososo" as Spain's laugh, but they are actually a Madness Mantra and a "cheer-up charm" respectively. Russia's actual "laugh" is "ufufufu~" (or "uhuhuhu") America's "DDDDDDDD"... no, that's not how it's actually pronounced. The anime/drama CDs just go with a loud rhythmic "Ha ha ha ha!" Poland has "WAHAHAHA!" |

hololive: Usada Pekora has an especially distinctive, high-pitched and jumpy laugh that comes out often. It's actually her natural laugh, as she can't actually pull it off if she tries to do it on purpose. Fansubbers usually add a multitude of arrows to indicate the pitch shifts. Takanashi Kiara, who was a fan of Pekora before debuting, has a similar laugh. She has stated she can't actually remember if she started laughing like that to copy Pekora or if she always laughed like that. Due to a Running Gag with Hololive English that was started at Kiara's expense, fansubbers usually add arrows pointing to the bottom left when it comes up. Pavolia Reine has a somewhat raspy chuckle that's been compared to a car engine trying to start, and it's been acknowledged with one of her unique chat stickers being that of a car with her in it and an accompanying HE. Her artist and "mama", Iida Pochi approves of the comparison. Miko has an Elite "UwahahaHAHAHA" laugh, with very well enunciated "HAHAHA". Korone has her "monkey screeches" which end with wheezes as she is unable to breathe. Amelia Watson has a mischevious sounding chuckle that fans refer to as a "gremlin laugh". Often used after mocking someone (the chat, other members or something in the game). Calliope Mori tried to force in a high pitched "teehee" very early on but she dropped it quickly when she realized that it wouldn't work. What has actually become her signature laughing style is a hearty guffaw that expends her lungs after about four "ha"s before she needs to breathe. Hakos Baelz has a high pitched guffaw that's been compared to seagulls or tea kettles. Kaela Kovalskia is different in that she doesn't have an audiable laugh. Her laugh is so low that her microphone doesn't pick it up. But it's clear when she's laughing from her animation. In a moment of fourth wall-breaking during one of her Minecraft streams, Gawr Gura admitted that she initially planned on giving herself a laugh similar to Pekora's. After trying to laugh out the word "shark" as "Sha-ha-ha-hark!" and finding the end result too cringeworthy, she settled for a light-sounding "Guhahaha!" instead. Josuiji Shinri has a wheezing laugh that is evocative of Muttley's snickering. Koseki Bijou has a squeeky laugh that's been directly compared to window wipers that ends with her inhaling and then sighing. |

Most SpongeBob SquarePants characters have distinctive laughs: SpongeBob's dolphin giggle. "Baa-haa-haa-haa-haa!" During his Early-Installment Weirdness in "Plankton!", SpongeBob has a laugh that goes "Nyur-nyur-nyur-nyur-nyur..." Patrick's moron laugh. "Uh-huh-huh-huh-huh!" Squidward's nasal chortle. "Hack-hack-hack-hack!" Mr. Krabs' pirate-accented "Ar-ar-ar-ar-ar!" or "Arg-arg-arg-arg-arg!" Plankton's Evil Laugh. Background character Scooter has a fast paced "Haw-hahahahahahaw" laugh. Some of the laughs are distinctive in German, too. SpongeBob got an impish giggle, while Squidward's voice was low and rough. Sandy also has a short high-pitched laugh that's exclusive to the German version of the series (notably heard in various German exclusive Spongebob albums). |

This Bites!: It's a One Piece fanfic, so this trope is very common. Noteworthy, however, in that Cross has one: As a Voice Changeling, Soundbite has a lot of laughing styles, but his most common is a combination of 'Hee's, 'Hoo's, and 'Ha's. Lassoo's laugh is "Hweehweehwee", taken directly from Muttley of Wacky Races. Su's laugh is "Tseeheeheehee". Dragon's is "Shishishishi", just like his son. Hancock's is "Snahahaha". Monet's is "Yukeeheeheehee". When she laughs genuinely, Robin laughs just like Saul. |

Dota 2 has Sniper and his distinctive "HO HO! HA HA!" It's far from his only laugh, but players are very well acquainted with it since he uses that particular laugh every other time he uses an ability. Dr. Bunsen Honeydew has a suppressed "Tss-tss-tss-tss-tss!" The Swedish Chef had two different laughs; Jim Henson's take has a dopey "Uh-huh-huh-huh-huh", while Bill Barretta's Chef instead has a jolly "Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo". Floyd Pepper's wheezy "kee hee hee hee hee" Ernie's phlegmy "Kshshshshshshshsh" Bert's bleating "ahahahahahahahahahah!" The Count's "ONE! Ah... ah...ah!" (often accompanied by thunder and lightning) Zoe's shrill, squeaky "Haw haw haw haw!" Elmo has one of the most distinctive laughs in children's television, as anyone who has ever owned a Tickle-Me-Elmo doll can attest to. Cookie Monster's "Hah hah hah hah!" Oscar the Grouch goes "Heh, heh, heh!" whenever something amuses only himself. Abby Cadabby's cute, squeaky giggle. |
